D.B. Swift was born in New York. She studied art and literature in college. She has always been drawn to fantasy and fairy tales, but it wasn't until her future husband encouraged her to read Ender's Game that she embraced science fiction. At seventeen, it was the first science fiction novel that she read by choice. Her life hasn't been the same since.
Affinity was her first novel.
