And thank god for Syn! The sweet little glob of light, or whatever she is!

I feel so bad for Szeth. It’s clear he hates himself and wants to die. And yet he lives by this code that traps him, and reduces him to nothing but a tool.
But he is also stressing me out on the 500 page mark. Cause what do you mean he is about to go kill highprinces and kings left, right and centre because someone is holding a stone that now enslaves him to them?? It isn’t magic right? So he is technically choosing to follow these orders, even though he believes he doesn’t have a choice??

I have decided I hate Elhokar. He is an idiot, and a bad king in my opinion.
It seems like he is king in name only, and people would follow him on principle, but when it came down to it he offers nothing that inspires loyalty.
Navani was right when she said he was a weak king.
He has no discretion regarding sensitive information, and let himself get played by Sadeas regarding the «Highprince of information» matter.
God I just want to punch some sense into him.

The only issue I had early on was how Kaladin and other male pov seems slightly more mature than Shallan’s. Like, there is a slightly naive undertone to her inner monologue, and whenever she talks she also has to watch how she speaks because she is a lady or whatever.
I thought Kaladin was a lot older than 19 years old, maybe closer to mid or late 20s, but I thought Shallan was 15 or 16. I’m hoping its intentional and will change later on. Brandon seems like a very deliberate writer.
And arguably, at this point, Kaladin has been though some stuff that ages you psychologically.

And one more thing. I have never encountered this before and been bothered by something like this. But the last word on each line on the pages are almost impossible to read because there is practically no space between the page and where it connects to the spine. So I need to pull the pages harder apart in order to read the last word. Does that make sense?
When I read for a long time I need breaks because my fingers almost start cramping from pulling the book apart.
I don´t know if this is happening because the book is so long, or if it´s poorly designed.
Because there’s supposed to be some space between the words and where the page connects with the spine! ...more "
