very different from most fairytale retellings This book is very different from most fairytale retellings, with the references to the horrors of tyranny, and it’s made it a truly worthwhile book to read. I’m glad I came across this author!

intertwining of magic and politics This series is an excellent one, better than the first in this world, and I enjoyed how it explores the intertwining of the world’s magic and politics, along with how sweet and empowering the romance feels.
