“We strode in silence, bending down at each shelf to inspect the individual trinkets. I was content with the silence—it made me feel comfortable. I could recall the couple of days that I’d gone out around town with the twins and how they had constantly criticized my silence, perhaps under the impression that I was shy. It was as if some people simply could not comprehend the notion of finding fulfillment while your mouth was closed. Not Connor, though. We seemed to understand each other perfectly.”
