One is a sequel to The Summer of France, my first novel. It's title Autumn in Aix. Another, A Charm of Finches, is about a 32-year-old agoraphobic woman who decides to change her life through feng shui. The third is Paris Runaway, about a divorced mom who chases her daughter who ran away to Paris. If you want to know more, I'll post the link here. And stay tuned to see which one I finish first. She can last on any diet, but she refuses to exercise. I'm kind of the opposite. I exercise most days of the week, but try to tell me I can't eat a certain kind of food and I obsess about it. So that was the basis for the two main characters.
My husband has been hiking the Appalachian Trail, doing sections for several years, and I thought it might be a great place for these characters to combine exercise and diet.
Of course, their true reasons for escaping home come through in the novel. It's not just about dieting, but about coming to terms with their changing roles as mothers, wives, and friends.

The Olympic Cauldron

Many people visit Paris in August, but mostly they run into other tourists. This year, there seem to be fewer tourists throughout the city and more centered around the Olympic Games. It's nice to hear French voices as we visit Paris, rather than lots of American accents.

As we walked from Gare de Lyon toward our hotel in the Latin Quarter, we sat down at a restaurant near Rue Mouffetarde and had a
