Kate Stuart is an author and researcher who is interested in storytelling and how it evolves. As a writer, she loves character-focused fantasy and experimenting with the best ways to tell their stories. As a researcher, she obsesses over author identity and online book culture, exploring how authors present themselves online and in their books, how these performances are influenced by the opportunities presented by technology and through innovation, and the way these identities can be shaped by the reader as both an imagined entity in the creation of a text and as a member of the online book community. Shifting Sands – an "unstable" ebook, where characters trade in and out to tell their stories - lies at the centre of this investigation.

Most of the other book worlds I love have a lot of danger and I'm not very brave. Though if I could stay in the Clayr's from Garth Nix's Abhorsen series and not venture elsewhere...(less)

I don’t know about you, but I’m pretty glad to see the back of 2020. There have been some good things, don’t get me wrong, but it’s not the year that past-me thought it would be when she set up her goals back in January. So, to laugh at pas Read more of this blog post »
