The first is a memoir inspired by a box of letters left by my father, who died before I was born. My memoir recreates my parents' relationship leading up to my father's death and its aftermath. It is an exploration into my relationship with a man I didn't know and into the web of events that followed his death.

The second is a book of essays — A Boreal Sketchbook — that explores my love of the flora and fauna of the boreal forest.(less)
