For a rough draft, I write the scene as best I can—leaving myself a detailed Comment about what I wish were different, possible issues with the scene as is, why I think I’m stuck—then I keep writing, moving on to the next scene. For a final draft, I do the same thing, only I stop writing and do something else, trusting my brain to work out the issue without me. But in a final draft, I won’t force myself through writer’s block. Getting the scene right is faaaar more important than how quickly I do it.(less)
