Daniel This is actually very good. Take this quiz and find out which presidential candidates agree with you on major issues, and which ones don't:

So, you've visited Lisbon. Yes, the coach museum is very interesting and unique. It's a very complete collection. I went there, already several time and I always enjoy it. I'm glad you liked it :)

message 70: by Jen (last edited Aug 25, 2016 01:08PM)

Jen Hi Daniel, nice to meet you :) Thank you for your message and comment. I think I am somewhat influenced by an English professor I had who had a policy of never giving A+s, because no writing is ever perfect (however I must point out she broke that policy for me twice ;) and for another student once).

Gone with the Wind *does* have some racist overtones, it is set in a very racist period, of course that's going to be there. And really she portrays the black characters as inferior only in social standing, not as inferior as human beings. Where would Scarlett be without her Mammy?

message 69: by Francisca (last edited Aug 25, 2016 01:08PM)

K.S.R. Hi Daniel,
I didn't even notice there was a place to make friend comments at the bottom of everyone's profile until I learned it from you. You've taught me a lot about how to make friends here at goodreads. It's bringing me a lot of joy. Thank you.
Karey

message 54: by Kanya (last edited Aug 25, 2016 12:56PM)

Kanya Wow, that's quite the European thing to say. :) I see your point, but do you think religion and politics can ever be seperate? A thing is what it is, no matter what name you give to it. It's just it's more bold and pronounced in America.

I've spent quite a bit of time in London, so I can figure out what makes certain ideas fly and what ideas are definitely NOT popular there. We are each given our unique positions, and there is NEVER going to be a perfect and steady one on any side. What can we do, right?

message 53: by Dian (last edited Aug 25, 2016 12:53PM)

Dian Thank you, Daniel.
I'll keep spending my time to read and even spare more time if I could. I'm grateful to know you, having you as my new friend and chance to read your piece of work. I believe your writing have and would inspired many people who read it as I have now. May you be blessed more with a happy, long and healthy life.

T.K. Kenyon Daniel --

Your book looks great! I've recently finished The Elegent Universe (Greene) and have been plowing through The Road to Reality by Penrose. (It's weighty.) I'm marking yours "to-read!"

message 49: by Rosemary (last edited Aug 25, 2016 12:50PM)

Rosemary Thanks for your greeting, Daniel. I wish you the best with your writing, too. But I don't know about the collaboration--I tend to get pretty caught up in my own peculiar vision.

Barbara Hi Daniel, thanks for stopping by to comment. Always good to meet fellow Jersey natives. Though I seem to be the opposite of you--instead of leaving the state and forgetting to come back, I kept coming back despite trying to leave.

message 37: by Cyrus (last edited Aug 25, 2016 12:35PM)

Cyrus Dear Daniel,
I saw that you visited Iran around 40 years ago. I don't know whether you know Farsi? Probably not! I wish you knew! Khayam ‘s Robayat in Farsi is marvelous! Pure art! By the way, I'm open to have a discussion on him and other Persian poems, if you like. Everything that's belong to my beloved country, make me excited and I’d be more than happy to talk about it it (be sure that those nuts extremist who run my country, are not Iranian and belong to Persian culture!).
Later on,
Regards,
Cyrus

message 36: by Sandy (last edited Aug 25, 2016 12:35PM)

Sandy Thanks Daniel, I read the comments on it... To each their own, right? I love it as a picturesque novel of a different time period, with a brilliantly flawed heroine. Scarlett is an awful person, doing what she needs to do to survive and not caring who she hurts along the way. And ultimately, she realizes too little too late something that could have been wonderful. But she's got an attitude and sense of self that makes you cheer for her anyhow. Racism and sterotypes were a sign of the times, whats wrong with that? Seriously, people need to chill...

message 35: by Sarah Woehler (last edited Aug 25, 2016 12:35PM)

Sarah Woehler Thanks for the comment, Daniel.

I actually have started a book, which will double as my thesis project. Maybe someday, if I'm very, very lucky, it'll be amongst all these books! Why not think wishfully, right?

message 34: by Tamar (last edited Aug 25, 2016 12:34PM)

Tamar thank you!
i like the idea of brightening up people's sites - days - lives - etc.. though i do get the feeling you say that to all the girls. hehe not that there's anything wrong with that, as long as you really mean it.. :p

i wouldn't consider wiener schnitzel part of dutch cuisine. but then, i'm not even sure if such a thing as dutch cuisine actually exists.

message 33: by Melissa (last edited Aug 25, 2016 12:34PM)

Melissa It sounds like a good idea, but what kind of website would suffice and how would publishers find it? Is it really considered a prelude to writing?

message 32: by Mindy (last edited Aug 25, 2016 12:33PM)

Mindy Thanks for the advice on India- especially about the uncut jewels! Hadn't even thought of that yet...

message 31: by Francisca (last edited Aug 25, 2016 12:33PM)

Francisca Portugal was a country of sailors and travellers that´s why we have got such a great museum. It´s good to know that you enjoyed it. All the best to you Daniel.
