Tracy S. Beck writes mysteries, adventures, and character-driven stories about ordinary people facing difficult choices.

His novels and short stories explore courage, family, friendship, and the moments when life doesn't go according to plan. His characters are rarely superheroes. They are people who make mistakes, face uncertainty, depend on others, and keep moving forward anyway.

After writing in the 1990s and later stepping away to focus on family and career, Tracy returned to storytelling with a renewed focus on the stories he most wanted to tell.

Why I wrote “Brother’s Keeper”

Starting Another Novel

I started Brother’s Keeper around 1996 after I had accomplished my goal of writing Homecoming. I was new to the editing, revising, and submissions process. Waiting for replies and “rejection” letters was nerve-wracking. During this period of not-so-patiently waiting, I wasn’t planning on starting another book, but several events motivated me to get this story written.

Another great addition to the series. Complex characters. Living history told in a compelling story. Accurate. I love how they are always having someone pass along a message or take messages or trying to find someone who has a phone they can use.
