I asked Derek Landy that question and this is what he said:"That is the second most common question I get asked, "right after what is you favourite cheese?" I've received lots of requests for the rights of Skulduggery Pleasant but every time I look at the scripts they're all terrible. I would look through the script and think, "Thats bad, Thats terrible, oh god. One was so terrible, they actually gave a dance number to Skulduggery! So I don't think I'll turn it into a movie soon."
It wasn't exactly what he said....but...thats the best I can remember. Its a shame. But imagine Skulduggery dancing and singing. Lol.
Dancing? Dear God…There are plans for a movie – with Derek writing the script – but he’s still only working on it. So it will be a little while. Maybe 3 to 4 years time.
I would LOVE for it to be a movie, as long as it was good (no dancing, please!). I think that they might mess up the casting, though.
Julia wrote: "But I heard that he sold the rights to Warner brothers."I can help you on that; Warner Bros. had the rights, but Derek got them back because of the ‘dancing Skulduggery’ scenario.
You see, WB and their writers were writing the script for the movie and when Derek read the script he HATED it. He hated it so much, that he took the rights back from WB.
Yes!!!! He was so fat. And funny. And cool. He told us about his life, answered questions then signed some books. Afterwards I got really depressed cause I wanted to ask a question SO BAD so I put my hand up at the start of the questions thing and half an hour later, just at the very end, when he points at me, the girl in front of me HAD to put her hand up, so he chose her. :( I'm so unlucky.
Ah. Wuz it at a bookstore or something??? Oh! And did you know that the next book comes out in august for the uk, but in October for Canada. Not fair!!!(:
Yeah, it was at Dymocks, which I WAS EXTREMELY HAPPY ABOUT!!! Coming in October? Oh that sucks. the latest came back in Australia like a few weeks ago. WAS AWESOME! It's so funny!!! And its based on sci-fi. :)

So far (this includs Kingdom of the Wicked) there are 7. There’s going to be 9 to be planned. So that means; only two more SP books. : (
Oh! I started a list called skulduggery pleasant, and it just lists all of the books in the series! Vote pleez!!! Nobody has voted yet!!!
I hope it becomes a movie, however im glad Derek Landy is making sure the script isnt stuffed up or anything.
I read on IMDB that the movie is set to release on August the 7th 2015, weather its actually true or not I am not sure but heres to hoping, and that they don't screw it up, like so many movies do. :/
I will say this though everytime I read the first book Skulduggery reminds me exactly of Chris Eccelston who played the 9th Doctor in Doctor Who he would make the perfect Skulduggery Pleasant.

This is what directors do when turning books into movies: take the book, chop it up into little pieces, eat it, and use what comes out the other end. That's why the movies are always so sh***ty compared to the books.

I'm super jealous that you got to meet him though... what was the question you were going to ask?? Or was it the movie one?

I think I was going to ask him, if Skulduggery ever reminded him of Sherlock. Either that, or a boring one like 'what are you going to do after the series.'
Also, did you know he like buffy the vampire slayer?

Haha. Amen, Sister.
Seriously, it's always the same. For example: Oh, you watched the movie but didn't read the book and call yourself a die-hard Hunger Games fan? Tell me who Madge Undersee is.
Madge Undersee is the friend of Katniss, previous owner of mockingjay pin, girlfriend of Gale, daughter of Mayor Undersee, wearer of pretty dresses, bearer of medicine in snow storms.
How did I do?
How did I do?
Ahem.
I asked Derek Landy this question at a book signing, and he said that it was the second most common question he was asked. The first was "Do you know Niall from 1 Direction?"
Really.

Yeah, I was at a book signing and that question came up. I'm pretty sure he said that it was being worked on but Derek Landy isn't going to let them make a movie unless it's great. He gave an example of one of the ridiculous scripts saying that there was a scene where Skulduggery broke out into song and dance, just because the director wanted a song and dance scene in it!That book signing was hilarious though, and it was my birthday so when I got my book signed he drew skulduggery holding a birthday balloon! :D
Also Johnny depp or David tenant for skulduggery Pleasant and willow shields if she died her hair for valkyrie Cain maybe sienna miller or scarlet johannson for tanith low Bruce Willis for ghastly bespoke and Megan fox for china sorrows

She is not Gales girlfriend. Gale likes Katniss!!!

I think Dominic Toretto would make a good ghastly, Bonnie Wright if she died her hair black she would make a good China and Jamie Campell Bower for flectcher if they make his hair look stupid
