Free from Tantor for us: The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes

Is it correct that TANTOR is only available for those who live across the ocean? Is it correct that I should never even bother checking them out? What can they offer to me if I live in Europe and don't want to play around with foreign addresses and credit cards? I just want to follow the rules. If I am forced to play with the rules I would rather buy from Audible, where such is not necessary. There are so many audiobooks on my wishlist that I don't have the time to listen to them anyhow.
Should I ignore Tantor, since I live in Europe?
Chrissie, I'm not seeing an easy answer on their site, so you might try service@tantor.com

Yes, it's labeled that way, but my download files didn't actually include the PDF. I sent customer service an email to flag it for them, but this is in the public domain so there are plenty of free ebook sources for this. Several at Project Gutenberg: http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/834

I am happy with Audible.
I've found Audible customer service very responsive.

I'm sorry but, Tantor was nice enough to come give us a heads up about a free audiobook that it didn't have to give to us. I am sorry that this offer may be only available in the US but come on that happens alot doesn't it? There is no need to be so rude to a company that was nice enough to give us free audiobooks.

oh I see I thought you meant on this thread, I've always had great service from them so am a little surprised they haven't responded sorry for the snarkiness.

It is easy to misunderstand each other. Don't worry about it. :0) I am very happy they offer this to some.
I sent them a message on a different topic that they haven't replied to as well.

I have no idea, but I'd assume they'll respond.
Chrissie, popping in to say that Tantor got back to me today (on a technical matter), so maybe they'll reply to you.

Unfortunately, "Many of our titles we have only North American audio rights for, we can legally only sell them within this area, of course when we can acquire World rights for a title we certainly do."
I thought others might want to know this too.

Well I would like to listen to Pride Prejudice & Zombies but want to listen to Pride & Prejudice as a refresher to the story so my vote would be for Pride and Prejudice by, Jane Austen

My vote would be for Mary Roberts Rinehart - The Bat.

For another classic, I'd suggest Cranford by Elizabeth Gaskell or King Solomon's Mines by H. Rider Haggard. For something more contemporary, perhaps the non-fiction title The Man Who Loved Books Too Much or a mystery from Thomas Perry, maybe Vanishing Act.

How about some of the lesser known titles by H. G. Wells, such as When The Sleeper Wakes or non-Science Fiction/Fantasy titles such as Mr. Britling Sees it Through and Kipps?
I have no idea if these titles are available in audiobook format, are in the public domain, or are licensed by you for publication. They came to mind because I was thinking about the European folks who can't access your giveaways. I thought that perhaps books by European authors might be more accessible to the international audience.
Thanks also for the Sherlock Holmes freebie!

Ooohhhhh . . . I vote for the THE RAINBOW . . as I've never read it . . and the person who is narrating it is someone I just discovered . . Wanda McCaddon . . who has done such a great job on some of the other books I've recently acquired.

Still 9/16 here on the west coast (east coast for that matter), but no longer free. Guess I shouldn't have waited until the last day :(
Thanks again Tantor!
