Alec Dunn | 13 comments Please could you help a self professed luddite and computer illiterate with some info or adding a book. I have recently completed writing and self published on Kindle my first book - The Revenants. I think it's pretty fantastic (obviously I'm slightly biased) but I wanted to promote it on Goodreads and get other people's opinions. I think I can make it free if I join some exclusive Amazon promotion and wanted to be able to say when for anyone interested... Anyway, when I tried to get the cover to come up on Goodreads, it wouldn't. Before I start to tell people about my book I think it would be best if it came up on the site. So, how do I add it? Can I even add it? It's only available on Amazon Kindle currently, and doesn't have an ISBN. I saw on the adding book info thread that covers cannot be taken from Amazon or B&N sites, but from the publishers web site - don't have one - or the author's - haven't set one up yet. I can e-mail a copy, but is that allowed? Please help. (And thank you for taking the time to read my plea - hope it's in the right place - it's my first ever post)

Catarina (ki_encruzilhadas) | 61 comments Hello Alec, if you have a copy of the cover you can upload it as an "extra profile picture" (I think that's how you say it) and a Librarian will add it to the book for you, in case you have already created one (which I couldn't understand if you have or not). If not you can leave the book data here and a Librarian will add it for you. Hope this helps :)

Alec Dunn | 13 comments I haven't already added the book - sorry, a bit of a rambling plea. This helps a lot. Thank you very much!
The title is: The Revenants
The publication date is August 12th 2012
The author is: Alec Dunn
There is no publisher.
The format is - Amazon Kindle or e-book? I'm not quite sure what it would be described as.
Any other info needed?
I will try to upload the cover as an extra profile picture.
Thanks again. Much appreciated.

Catarina (ki_encruzilhadas) | 61 comments You're welcome!

If you published it you have to at least have an ANSI, which is the equivalent to an ISBN for e-books. I'll need that as well and a description of the book. And then I'll add the book for you :)

Alec Dunn | 13 comments It worked! Thanks Keys. I have the cover as an extra profile picture. Do I need to do anything else with it or is everything set? Can a librarian work their mysterious cyber magic now?

vicki_girl | 2764 comments Okay, got the basics up based on your info. Here is the link to your book:

http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/15...

If you can provide the following information, I will add it as well:

ASIN
Publication Date
Description

Also you can claim your author profile here:
http://www.goodreads.com/author/confi...

Please note that you are Alec^^Dunn where ^ indicates a space. This keeps you separate from other people with the same name. Anytime you add books to the GR database you will need to put two spaces between your first and last name (or put that information in your request if you would like a librarian to help you).

Alec Dunn | 13 comments Thank you all for your help. Wow - so much to do! Right here goes.
The ASIN number is B008X72A82
The publication date is NOT the 12th as I put but the 13th! I think Amazon might have changed it I'm sure I remember thinking it was two days before my wedding anniversary, but now it's only one.
The description - should that be the blurb? - is:
Bradley Johnson is dying and he knows it, dying from an unexplained illness in a lonely hospital bed. He is a teenage boy with the gift of prophecy, able to see the future, a boy with power, a boy who has been betrayed and abandoned. And Bradley wants revenge.
Unable to move from his bed, as his body weakens his powers grow and his mind reaches out to affect the lives of others, to make them claim the revenge he cannot.
In his dreams he sees a woman murdered, leaving her son to pick up the pieces. His mother’s death, moving to live with his aunt, having to start a new school and getting bullied means life is hard for the boy. It isn’t made any easier when he is chosen by Bradley to inherit his gift and be the instrument for his revenge.
But bullies aren’t so much of a problem when you find you have unusual powers and unlikely friends. The things that crawl out of the graves on the other hand are most definitely a problem.
The ability to see the future might be a great gift, but all gifts come with a price and sometimes the future you dream of can be a world away.

Thank you all, mighty wizards! Please let me know if there's anything else I should add.

vicki_girl | 2764 comments Would that be August 12, 2012 for the publication date? (Just want to make sure)

Blurb & ASIN added.

message 9: by Katherine (new)

Katherine | 10 comments Added the ASIN, the Blurb and the publication date. (as the 13th of august)

It would be lovely if you had the # of pages, so one of us could add that as well. :)

message 10: by Alec (new)

Alec Dunn | 13 comments Nuts! If only I checked properly. Sorry Monkey. The number of pages is approx 250 and the word count is about 70,000.

Alec Dunn | 13 comments The publication date is... Ok, on my page for my book on Amazon it has the date submitted as the 13th Aug, but when I just looked on the Kindle book site it has the date as the 12th. Presumably they published my book the day before I submitted it. Clever stuff! I don't really know which to suggest. Perhaps the 12th to match the date on their site, but I sat and did it at the laptop on the 13th - in the UK anyway. I really don't mind which one is used. I don't understand the significance.
