Mistakes in Harry Potter

So, obviously a 7-book series will have a few mistakes and continuity problems along the way. These are the ones that I can remember:


1. Ginny's eye color
When Harry first meets Ginny in the second book, she has green eyes.
However, later on she is said to have brown eyes.

2. Animagus / human transfiguration
I never really got the difference. In the 4th book, Victor Krum tries to
transfigure himself into a shark for the second task (he only managed to
change his head). Yet, if he had succeeded, what would be the difference
between transfiguring himself into a shark or becoming an animagus?
(Also, Moody transfigures Malfoy into a ferret)

3. Thestrals
Harry can't see the thestrals until his 5th year, after he saw Cedric Diggory
die. But when he leaves school at the end of the 4th year, he notes the
horseless carriages (after he had already seen Diggory die). Also, he
should have been able to see them from the beginning, since he watched
his mother die (unless you have to be old enough to know what's
happening, I guess).

4. Draco Malfoy's quest
Draco spends most of his 6th year trying to find a way in for the death
eaters. One would think that a portkey or floo powder would do the trick. I
guess increased security might prevent a portkey from working. But floo
powder should still work, it's not like the death eaters wanted to be
subtle.

5. Priori Incantatem
When Harry's and Voldemort's wands connect at the end of the 4th book,
Priori Incantatem forces Voldemort's wand to show the last spells he
performed. He killed Harry's father before his mother, but his father
comes out before her (I think this was corrected in later issues of the
book).


Don't get me wrong, Harry Potter is my favorite series of all time. I just think it's interesting to note sometimes what even a horde of editors, as well as the author himself/herself have missed.

Can anyone think of any other mistakes/blunders?

1.I can't correct this
2. The difference between Animagus and Human Transfiguration is that Human Transfiguration is just a simple spell to turn into whatever animal whereas an Animagus has to be registered to turn into one animal at will
3. I think J.K. Rowling said Harry didn't see the thestrals until his 5th year because he still hadn't accepted Cedric's death at the end of his 4th.
4. The floo network was probably being heavily monitered
5. I can't find anything wrong with this
