Per the rules "Must be a real place, known to the masses. " So no, fictional ones wouldn't work.

Thanks!

Lol. I know what you're reading, Paris.

Lol Alyssa. I had a feeling someone was going to say that.

I would count mayor, or former mayor as a celebrity

I loved it Alyssa. I love that series. It's one of my favorites.
I am reading City of Lost Souls and they are in (view spoiler) and they have canals through out the city would that count?

Yeah, I'll take it.

Thank you
Yeah, I'll take it."
Thank you

Bird hybrids are at least part non human so that would work. And if they are children you could use it for either.
Non-humans don't have to be paranormal in nature.
You could also use a pet, if they had a role in the story, as a non human.
It can also be an expression, "She looked like an Angel" or "She screamed like a banshee".

"...endless expanse of water and sky..."

"...endless expanse of water and sky...""
Endless expanse sounds like an open space to me.

The cover itself needs to be at least 50% blue.

The gulf would be circumstantial. Mentioning the region itself no, since there are citties along the gulf so the whole thing isn't open. But standing on the beach in the gulf could be an open space.

Does this mean you might also take a reference to a jungle or something in the woods?

Yes I would take either.

So, if a character mentions being on the beach, does the beach count as an open space?

I would take beach as an open space.

Usually there isn't that big a difference. What is the book?

Oh.... And, if the book says someone's eye..."
I don't know that I would count the cave per se since it is an enclosed space. But a cave could be found in an open outdorsy area.
Glittering eyes is acceptable.
And no you are not being annoying.
