Buddy Read Suggestions
would anyone like to read some Algernon Blackwood or Arthur Machen? I got a collection of each for Christmas but haven't read much out of them. I'd rather not read The Willows cause I did just read it in October (I think) and it wasn't my first time reading it.
The Willows, the Wendigo, and Other Horrors: The Best Weird Fiction and Ghost Stories of Algernon Blackwood: Annotated and Illustrated Tales of Murder, Mystery, Horror, and Hauntings
The Works of Arthur Machen: House of Souls, the Hill of Dreams, the Three Impostors and Other Tales of the Sacred and Profane

Sounds like a good idea. Yes, I’d be interested (although this promises to be a busy month for me). Just name a story (or stories) and a start date. (Like you, I’d probably shy away from another re-reading of “The Willows”. I’ve also sorta recently read the stories originally collected in Blackwood’s The Empty House and Other Ghost Stories , but would at least contribute to any conversation.)
Paula Cappa just highlighted this short story on her blog,

does it have The dance of death in it? if so we can start with that one if it's ok with you.
No, it did not. To be honest, I’m not sure this is one I’ve ever read before. Sounds good.

yeah, it didn't sound familiar to me either. ok, how about Ancient Lights?

Either or both of those stories is fine. I have a handy electronic omnibus edition that includes all of his stories as well as some dead tree editions of his works.

Oops. Missed this when you originally posted it. Yes, I can put this in my to-read list. I’m pretty sure this is included in the Tartarus Press collection of Hoffmann’s stories.

ok, here's the thread. if you want to read more, we can just use the same one if that's ok with you.

I know I've read the unloved. it was the last one I read, and I think I've read suffer the children wayyyyy back in high school. whatever we decide I'm going to try to find in actual book form. we have 2 used bookstores near by and his books are almost always there. lol. I wouldn't say I love him but he's ok. every now & then I read his stuff. I've certainly read worse!

I don't mind it, I don't know if I've read enough to say I love it. yeah I'm wondering if I can squeeze in going to one of the bookstores today. I kinda doubt it :(

I want to read that one too, but I won't be ready to start until more toward the end of June. I will look forward to what you think about it though.
