Jana This book is amazing and so much better than the Twilight series! A must read!!!

Helena I loved this book. Cried so hard the last 100 or so pages, but also laughed so hard in some parts.
The first 100 pages are a bit slow but don't you give up! :D

Hannah My advice to you is - don't read it just because your hoping it's another Twilight. I have read the Twilight series and loved it and I have also read The Host and loved it but they are nothing alike. In fact if I hadn't known they were both by the same author then I would have been shocked to find out. The host is about aliens in a way, but it's not aliens like you would imagine. The host is a really good book but I didn't find that I wasn't loving it until I had gotten through the first part. I completely recommend it but put Twilight out of your mind if you start this book.

Ruckieee x real good i loved it this book really gripped my heart xxxxxxxxxx

Taylor The Host is a wonderful book, but I had hard time getting into the book until the mild of the book. And then it turned into an amazing book.

Dulcina Borges 'ITS AWSOME'...... something different with d hosts coming up'this one is one of ma favourite books.... i love reading wen im all alone......

Zoya Its a brilliant book! A must read.

message 58: by mal (new) - rated it 5 stars

mal This book is seriously one of the best I've read. In my opinion, it was MUCH better than Twilight, and that's saying a lot, considering that Twilight is one of my faves. I definitly reccommend it.

Eslam Elsheikh The book is good, and really startled. Still the detail is too out there..

Beatrix Personally, I like it better than Twilight. Our heroine is a very interesting person, brave but sensitive. Human relationships are complex and the story itself is exciting.

Amy It was such a good book I loved it!!!!!!! Its sorta about aliens. Its like these 'souls' that invade the earth and have taken over most of the normal human population by having them selves put in the back of their necks. But it follows the story of one soul cant get rid of the human whos body shes in. If you liked twilight you should like this one! xx

Bernadette Singer eslam , yes I agree. Good book but definately out thier

message 63: by Kati (new) - rated it 5 stars

Kati Yes this is a really good book even though I didn't think I was gonna like it & I would read it again...Stephanie Myers is an incredible author:)

Crystal Hell YEAH!! One of the best I have read so far!! Loved how different and sci fi it was and how much I enjoyed and loved it!!

Alisa As everyone seems to agree, it's a slow starter but it's one that is well worth the effort. I realized just how good it was when a week after reading it I was still thinking of the characters and debating points of the story with myself. It stays with you for a long time.

Bernadette Singer I agree alisa, I read this book a year ago and it has remain one of the most interesting book ive read

Laëtitia Personally ? I couldn't finish it, really didn't like it at all !

Bernadette Singer Laëtitia wrote: "Personally ? I couldn't finish it, really didn't like it at all !"

you cant have a good perspective on the book if you didnt finish it. it was definately a read you had to get into the book further to understand all that was going on

Laëtitia Yeah maybe, but after half of it I was really not enjoying it at all ! ;) Glad some of you did !!!

Ms. Loved this book and very excited for the movie. It did take a bit to get into (maybe about 50 pages), but then it really picked up. Great storyline and social commentary.

Dalton Giesick What books arn't being made into movies? UGH... My book Brotherly Love by Dalton Giesick.

message 72: by T.J. (new) - rated it 5 stars

T.J. The idea is simple yet weird and it's kinda slow in the beginning, but once the story really gets interesting it is amazing!

Kimberly Thorlakson Christy wrote: "I was wondering is this a good book.. I like the Twilight sereis So maybe this good also.. Is it about Aliens someone said that it was.."

Hi Ive read this book it was a different style of book but kept my interest even though it had paranormal involvement in it. id give it A 6 out of 10.

Bernadette Singer slow to get into but picks up after chapter 8. it it a good book. keep reading.

Nancy Miller If you are going to read it because you love Twilight, you will be disappointed. It is nothing at all like that. The 'aliens' in this story are not vengeful transformers, and there is no great earth-crashing final fight. It's a much more subtle story, and that much more complex and compelling, IMO. The first few chapters move very slowly, and I put the book down at first, because of that. Then I decided to give it another go. After the 2nd or 3rd chapter, it begins to gain steam, and just takes off from there. I can't wait to see how the movie handles the interaction between the main character and the alien who has been implanted in her, since those conversations take place in her head.

J.H. Walker I loved this book. I reviewed it on my page. I think it's her best. And yes, like Nichola said, it appeals to a broader market. As for the slow-going in the beginning, if a book is going to have more than a simple plot, you have to set it up. It's unfortunate that so many kids require instant action. Some of the best books are built a little more slowly and deeply and that's what makes them good.

message 78: by J.H. (new) - rated it 4 stars

J.H. Walker So anyway, I agree with Nichola. Read the first few chapters and keep going, because there's a really involved story ahead of you.

J.H. Walker Has anyone read Octavia Butler? She has some great books. She's no longer living, but she was amazing. Her Parable of the Talents and Parable of the Sower are some of my favorite books. I've reviewed them also and I highly recommend them if you want an intelligent read. And now that I see I'm pretty much talking to myself, I'll check back later.

Bernadette Singer To J.H. I have to agree with you that many people when reading rely on instantly being captured. Some books require a more detailed set up before the plot kicks off.

Carolyn I really enjoyed reading The Host. It is a good book and different from her Twilight series which I really liked. i agreee that it does start out slow but it really picks up later on.

Don't_Trot_and_Text It's an awesome book! If you're a fan of Stephenie Meyer's Twilight, Veronica Roth's Divergent, or Lauren Oliver's Delirium, this is the book for you! "This book is for people who dont like sci-fi," Stephenie Meyer said something like that. It is a sci-fi book, but it's not like Star Wars. It's very deep and thought provoking, and contains some romance. Def one of my favorite books!

message 83: by Beth (new) - added it

Beth I really enjoyed this book, but I don't know how well it will translate into a movie. It does take a certain person to get past the sci-fi aspect (I personally loved it.) and really embrace the love story, but I felt that it was worth it in the end. This author has a knack for taking an old story and breathing fresh air into it. That's my opinion.

message 84: by Jodi (new) - rated it 4 stars

Jodi I just finished it and really liked it. Different from the Twilight series, good characters, engrossing. The set up in the beginning was what pulled me into the book and then it was a fun ride the rest of the way.
