Does anyone else think zombies when you read about The Forged? "

Only this morning while reading the second book. There was a bit of munching going on. Yummmm.

Yes, zombies come to mind. Even though I hate zombies and vampires The Forged didn't bother me as much as space vampires or vomit zombies.

Bryek | 273 comments Zombies to me won't stop to pick over vanity items, which the forged do. They attack until you die. So I didn't really make that connection.

Jack (Reader Reborn) (readerreborn) I definitely think of them as zombie-like creatures, if not necessarily the zombie George Romero made famous.

actually the forged ones are like zombies since they're moved by one desire, but they're still alive and have they still feel the necessity to own items

Bryek | 273 comments to me a true zombie is dead. literally. no heart beat. does not tire.

Michael (michaelbetts) Getting hung up a bit on technicalities aren't we? If you have to stop and say, "Well they're like zombies, but they really aren't because of X trait..." They're pretty zombie-like :P

I'd say Hobb's take on zombies is as creative as Watts' take on vampires. Which places my estimation square in the eye of the beholder, I suppose :)

Michael | 3 comments I think that people devoid of emotional connections are inherently different from decaying, rotting, slow moving zombies. The forged are said to move as quick as a feral animal. I'd say they are very different.

Ena (enantoiel) | 22 comments Forged reminded me loosely of zombies. They have distinct differences, but similarities are there enough to make me compare and contrast the two throughout the reading.

Stan Slaughter | 359 comments The Forged are more like the Rage zombies from the movie 28 Days later. Not so much interested in eating your brains, but real interested in killing you.

P.S.

Slow moving zombies interested in eating you = George Ramiro zombies
Slave zombies who obey a master and do his bidding = Vodoo Zombies

There are a *ton* of different zombie types - here's a link to a Wiki listing just some : http://zombie.wikia.com/wiki/Types_of...

Gautam | 20 comments Wow that is a thorough wiki. I had no idea that there were zombies in both star wars and harry potter.
