Was this book better than "The Help"?

I am having a difficult time deciding which book I liked better: "The Dry Grass" or "The Help". Anyone else have the same dilemma?

I liked them both. They were written from such different points of view - making them totally distinct. 'The Help' was written by an adult (a very young one, I admit) who saw her life as someone looking back and seeing her life from the point of view of a more tolerant and educated and caring person. 'The Dry Grass' was narrated by a child. She could only see and process what was happening at the moment. I really loved both books - they both told the same story: how can people be so cruel to each other? How can they not see that we are all in this life together and we need each other to make the best of it.

Not better, but similar time frame. Regardless, you fall in love with the made Mary, and you feel for the girl, and it stirs your emotions.

I really liked both these books. They were told from very different perspectives, but both were very raw and emotional.

Agreed. "The Dry Grass.." didn't have as much following or hype around it. But I thought the pace of the book was slow at the start and most of the events happened in the last 1/4 of the book. One of the other books I really enjoyed reading is "Mudbound"

Not better but similar. Both have characters you will laugh and cry with.

for me The Help was way more better..

"The Help" had so much hype that I was expecting it to be another "Mockingbird", since that was how it was presented, but it was mainly "chick-lit" to me. This book was better, I thought, in that the characters were more realistic. The father in this one was a little too evil, but the rest was enjoyable to read.
