Such an amazing book, so very Australian in texture of the writing.

PattyMacDotComma | 3310 comments Hurray! Aussie author Adrian Hyland finally gave us a new book! Constable Jesse Redpath is another smart, tough female character from the Northern Territory. She's stepping on the toes of the local Victorian cops, investigating a death at Canticle Creek. Excellent!
Canticle Creek by Adrian Hyland 4.5~5★ My review of Canticle Creek

Gavin | 7 comments Hey Everyone,
I'm new to this group. I joined because I want to read more Australian books. This really is a great group to find others' opinions on new and old books. I'm mostly interested in SFF, but in no way exclusively.

Anyway, I've been waiting patiently and finally the Australia Book Industries Awards just announced their Longlists.

Still waiting for Ditmar and Aurealis Awards to make an announcement.

Jülie ☼♄  (jlie) | 6581 comments I think The Beautiful Words by Vanessa McCausland is a hard one to beat and will likely be right up there with the best this year, a really beautifully written complex story. I gave it 5 big ⭐️s.

PattyMacDotComma | 3310 comments A new favourite Aussie thriller for my bookshelf! If you need more than my enthusiasm, Lee Child called Michael Trant's latest novel, Wild Dogs "Tough, fast and hard – my kind of book." It is also a completely authentic, Aussie outback story. I'm with Lee on this one.
Wild Dogs by Michael Trant 5★ My review of Wild Dogs

PattyMacDotComma | 3310 comments Does NZ count? 😊

I'll be surprised if this one doesn't win some more awards. Auē, by Becky Manawatu is centred around a contemporary Maori family. Loved it!

M.N. Cox (mncox) | 82 comments Has anyone mentioned Candice Fox's series, Crimson Lake, yet? I read all three this year after watching the ABCs Troppo (based on the books) and I LOVE the book series. So many great characters. It's one of those series that I might even re-read at some point.
