Hi, I'm new here, and new to all of this, so please excuse any etiquette mistakes. Since this is the year I turn fifty, this seems to be a perfect challenge for me. Now if I can just figure out the system! and remember what I've read since Jan. 1.

#1- The Tender Bar, J.R. Moehringer, A until he goes to Yale, C-, after#2, The World According to Bertie, Alexander McCall Smith, B+, lots of fun
#3- Gilead, Marilynne Robinson, A Wonderful
#4 Why Him, Why Herby Helen Fisher - still not too sure what I thought of this one, but I did keep picking it up over the novels I'm reading, I need to find a discussion on this one, B
#8 The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Societyby Mary Ann Shaffer, Annie Barrows - Loved it! A
Melanie, Hi, I'm not sure about The Road. It was beautifully written, but not my cup of tea? I can understand why so many people love it, and I've recommended it to my sons, but not something I really enjoyed. Now, the Lace Reader I want to go back and reread to see what I missed all along.
I really liked The Road but I understand what you mean about not really being a book one enjoys because the content/concept is very dark and downright disturbing.I am hoping that Brunonia Barry releases another book soon - I think that The Lace Reader was her first one, which is pretty impressive.

Hi, They're fun. I didn't absolutely love it, but I did go back to the library for two more in the series. Sometimes a little too much romance, but addicting. Fran
Congratulations on 28 books Fran!I just read my first Sookie and I just received the next one and I'm anxious to begin!
Thanks. Hope you enjoy it. I'm looking forward to another. I just wish I'd started at the beginning.

Same here! They are good to read after the "heavy", more serious books - kinda like candy for the brain : )
#29 Bones of the Barbary Coast, Daniel Hecht, B. I loved it until the end, too many loose ends, I mean, give me a break, it was fiction, a few more could have been tied up!
that last post sounded strange, a few more LOOSE ENDS could have been tied up!#30 Slumdog Millionaire, Vikas Swarup, A Very good.
#32 A Version of the Truth, Jennifer Kaufman, A light, fun read, B#33 Grave Good, Ariana Franklin, #3 in the series, also a B
