Sales figures - something funny is going on at Amazon

I just noticed a couple of posts where authors have not had any sales recently and it made me think....


Over the last week some very peculiar things have been happening on the Amazon Affiliate programme. The sales figure dipped to zero for some quite large affiliate sites even though the hit rate hadn't changed. The affiliate forum has been busy and Amazon have adamantly denied anything is wrong.

I wonder if authors are seeing lower sales than they would expect ......

Well, I've not had many sales recently, but to be honest I think it's just that no one's buying my book. I've got a couple of friends with new releases this week, and they've not mentioned any problems.

Mine have been all over the shop for days now, but are definitely way down on where they have been.

My sales have never been great in the whole 6 months that my book has been out - but this past month is particularly abysmal :-\

Mine have dropped by about a third this month, but I haven't run any free promotions for a while, so it's probably dropping to usual levels.

My book sales are holding up OK in the States - but are in a pretty sad state in the UK. I put it down to the summer holidays and refuse to worry :-)
If in doubt sticking your head in the sand always works for me.

Sales? Any day now!

I am a heartbeat away from accosting anyone with a Kindle on the Jubilee Line. One more hour of intensive physical training will see me 'up for it.'

The advantage is that commuting Kindle kin will not be able to readily escape my pitch. But then nor will I be able to readily escape should their reaction prove unfavourable, nay abusive even, nay violent even.

Clearly this radical approach to marketing is rich in pitfalls.

Does one approach women and if so of what age? And guys? And how does one judge what someone might be reading from appearance alone. The problem with your Kindles from the desperae, direct marketer's viewpoint is that one simply does not know what one's quarry is actually reading.

Nooooo matter! In these trying times one must surely be bold. And there are NONE bolder than this LONDON VERSER. N O N E.

And so, dearest goodreaders, if you don't hear from me again this side of domesday you will know that I have been arrested and am pitching for sales among the cream of London's literary life in H.M.P, Pentonville.

Can you down load your book on the underground? If you make a sale they might just tell you that it isn't their fault that they can not download at that moment . .:-o)

As for sales - the US was down in July & August MTD is zero!
UK isn't too bad for July and August is three :-o(
Let's blame the northern summer ! or is it our lack of 'marketing' :-o)
