How do you get time for so much reading?! :-P :-)
there is a lot of time to read. I read at lunch time. I usually take my lunch so I have at least 45 minutes a day to read. I also carry my book or kindle with me so if I am waiting on a train or at a doctors office or waiting on my son to get out of practice I read... I read with my first cup of coffee before work and usually a hour before bed...
Hi everyone - I've not been around much lately. Work has been crazy and I've not had much time to read. I've also started training for my vacation in October - my friends and I are doing a walking tour of the Cotswold area of England. As a non-exerciser, this is a real challenge for me. :) Hope everyone is doing well and that I'll be able to participate more this month.

Phew! I had a 15 hour work day today (this is not really typical), and I'm SO excited to curl up with a book tonight. How are everyone else's weekends starting?
relaxing and comfy. My son is staying with a friend...Hubby took me to supper we ate breakfast and I finished my book The Love Song of Jonny Valentin by Teddy Wayne while hubby played the guitar
The Hubby got off early today and we have been catching up on episodes of The Walking Dead this evening. Not something I'm into, but somehow I'm totally addicted. I find myself yelling at the tv telling the non-zombies what they should be doing, lol.I am looking to complete a couple of books this weekend, and begin exercising again. I injured my knee about a week ago and had to let myself recuperate.
Fun and relaxation is what I'm hoping for! :)

I have a quiet weekend planned - EPL soccer, reading, training walk on Sunday afternoon, and then the Oscars on Sunday night!
Ugh...I have to work today! The good thing is only have to work 1 Saturday out of the month. After work my fam and I will be going sledding. Have to take advantage :)

I think the groundhog got it wrong this year and spring is not coming early. :/
I want to go exercise outside, but when it is that cold I only make it about 15/20 minutes out there. Then, I have to finish exercising inside, which is sooo not as much fun.
We got about a quarter to a third of an inch of ice two days ago thanks to Winter Storm Q. There is no evidence of the ice anywhere now. Talk about a melting frenzy!
We got ice, sleet, rain, snow an rain again and today 20's. I am sooooooooooooooooooooo sick of bad cold weather. We are expected to get snow again Monday.
Ireland had some snow today too. -4 Celsius, brrr
Storm Q gave us 5 inches in central Iowa. But supposedly 3-6 inches plus ice tomorrow night :(. I can't workout if it is icy! Booo winter!

Kelsi- Im in Lincoln, NE and we got 8 inches. We're supposed to get around 3 more tomorrow. About 2 hours west of us got 10-14 inches. We barely missed out on the big stuff!
So we just got past Winter Storm Q and here comes Winter Storm Rocky? Oh, when will it end?(Also: how wacky is it that the Weather Channel names winter storms now? It does, though, make them easier to follow on twitter.)
What did everybody think of the Oscars? I was very happy for Anne Hatheway and Jennifer Lawrence. Pleased with most of the results. I actually really enjoyed Seth, despite some misogyny. My friends and I get really into it amd have usually seen all the movies, although I have yet to see Django, Lincoln, and Argo. Silver Linings was so great!
I really enjoyed the Oscars this year. I like Seth a lot better than Billy Crystal. Billy is just too old now to be funny and entertaining, lol. I called Anne's win, but really thought Jessica Chastain might win best actress. I was somewhat surprised, but really like Jennifer Lawrence as well.
I'm not caught up watching these movies, so I see some date night in the furute for Oscar nominees and winners! The only one I don't really care about seeing is Django...it looked kind of dumb in my opinion. Who knows though? It was nominated for Best Picture, right? lol
Yeah, I find that you either love Quentin Tarantino or hate him. I agree that it was the one I'm the least excited about, but I do usually enjoy his movies. Every time the Academy made a mention to Les Mis, I instantly got tears in my eyes. That movie wrecked me. So when Anne won, my boyfriend and friends thought I was nuts because I instantly started crying. Also, if you get a chance you should you tube Jennifer Lawrence meeting Jack Nicholson. She was so adorable and totally in awe the entire night.
Oh, and I forgot to mention that I absolutely love Adele. I could listen to her sing 24/7. I really thought Les Miz was going to win for best song but was pleasantly surprised when Adele won for Skyfall. That song is addicting, lol. (And I really like the movie).I guess you could say I'm a "Bond Girl".
I really enjoyed the Oscars this year! The Oscars are my Superbowl, so I was skeptical about Seth but thought he did alright, despite some of his tasteless jokes. I was not surprised by the four actor categories but was surprised by the best director. Ang Lee definitely deserved the Oscar for Life of Pi. If you've read the book, definitely watch the movie. If you haven't read the book, read first then watch the movie - so totally worth it!

It is harder for me to see all the movies now that they nominate up to 10 rather than the traditional 5. I absolutely loved both Argo and Silver Linings Playbook so I was very excited to see them do well. I have not seen Life of Pi but I loved the book. When I heard that Ang Lee was directing, I knew the story would be in good hands.
I only watched Lincoln and Django Unchained. It was quite weird to see two movies that are about slavery and are set in about the same time, but are as different as two movies can be. Daniel Day-Lewis was absolutely amazing as Lincoln. I totally forgot he's English! And Tarantino is one of my favorite directors. So far his movies have never disappointed me. Django wasn't his best movie, but still a very nice one. I loved Christopher Waltz (he deserved the Oscar) and Leonardo DiCaprio. And of course a very famous actor who was very unrecognizable (don't want to spoiler anything!).
Did anyone else think Kristen Stewart looked high? I don't think she knew she was at the Oscars. She showed up with crutches, so I'm wondering if she took something to get her through the night.She's mediocre at best, and I don't think she deserved to be up there announcing an award. There are too many other good actors/actresses out there. Those Twilight people need to go away now, lol.

I couldn't agree more...I must admit that I have not seen Twilight and I have not read the books but I just have absolutely no interest.
I was so mad that Daniel Radcliffe and Kristin Stewart presented an award together. Wrong on so many levels--acting wise, putting Twilight and Harry Potter in the same category, she couldn't even brush her hair for the Oscars....But yes, she looked like she was wigged out on something.
While I agree that Kristen Stewart isn't the greatest actress I was a little annoyed at Daniel Radcliffe. She was quite clearly hurt enough to use crutches on the red carpet and I understand not wanting to go on stage with them, the least he could have done was help her out! Give her an arm to lean on or something! Just because his films are superior in every way doesn't mean he automatically gets the right to act like that.
I was curious about everyones opinion on this. If there's a book and a movie or a book and a series , do prefer to read the book first or watch the movie/ series first? Example. A Game of Thrones
I prefer to read the book first. I find it gives me greater insight on the series/movie. It's guite obvious when a writer/producer/director have read the book and appreciated it. However, there are certain books that I would never had read but for watching the movie first, i.e. Harry Potter, Eragon, Namesake.
i have to read the book first. i know that the movie is totally different from the book but if i already know the gist of what is going to happen i just cant get into putting the time in to read the book. half the fun is not knowing what will happen.

I have almost completed the 2nd book and am 4 episodes in the 2nd season.
A Game of Thrones sticks pretty good with the story. They switch up some things, but it isn't very drastic from what I can tell.
Basically, I always read the book first. :)
I love to read the book first to create wonderful pictures in my head :) I saw the Game of Thrones tv show first, though, and I loved it. I haven't attempted to read the books yet...Generally, if I see the movie/tv show first I don't read the books. Guilty. There is just so much to read!
If I have read the book before, I like to see the movie. It sparks my curiosity to see what changes in the production process. I try to go in with an open mind. Very often I am pleasantly surprised when the filmed version is different but good on its own.
I also love to read the book first. Some movie adaptations were really disappointing (The Hunger Games, The Da Vinci Code), but I'm practically always curious to see what they did with the story. Game of Thrones was the other way around. I saw the tv series first and then read the books. It gave me a lot of background information about the series. Right now I'm trying to get ahead of the series and read the books first.
I watched the very first episode of Sherlock yesterday and I'm already hooked. Anyone else watching this?

Sherlock is on netflix and amazon prime instant video! Lovvveee it!

I don't know if I would have watched the t.v. show after reading the books. Quite a drastic difference between the two.
I've gotten absolutely nothing done today, so I can stay on Facebook (yeah, I know) and see when my Cousin's baby arrives. We are still waiting on baby Avie to make her arrival into the world. I'm getting anxious!It is her first baby and we grew up together. It's soooo exciting!
Just got back from a meet-and-greet with Jane Porter, author of The Good Woman, The Good Daughter, and others. She is so wonderful! As someone who wants to work in the publishing industry, I hope this is the first of many meetings with an author!
Please tell me that I'm not the only one who's ever done this? I've got a couple of books that I need to read so I can do reviews on them for BookRooster. Last night I grabbed the kindle and sorted the books by title so I could get one done, that just happens to fill a category on one of my monthly challenges. Yay!
I finished the book today after work and I'm thinking 'well, this stinks, I hate it when I have to give a less-than-stellar review on a book that I HAVE to do a review on'.
So I bring up the Amazon page of the book to do my review and when it comes up I see the cover and think 'hmm, didn't realize this book had been made into a movie all those years ago' and then I scroll down to leave a review and think 'wow, there's a lot of reviews on this one already'.
Only then do I realize I have read the wrong book. I should have searched for
and what I did search for was
What a dummy I am!!! But at least I can laugh at myself LOL and not only did the "wrong" book still fill the intended category on my challenge, it also adds another complete to my TBR challenge in another group.
Today is International Women's Day. In its honor, let's discuss our favorite female authors. Who are yours?
My favorite female authors are: Jane Austen, The Bronte Sisters, and Harper Lee. I'm sure there are more, but those are the ones that stand out the most to me. :)

It's unfortunate that she recently passed away. I like how her books all kind of connect somehow but you don't need to read them in a certain order to understand what the heck is going on!
I love so many I can't even start to list them. I'd be here forever.
