I wasn't against Amazon buying goodreads, actually I kind of liked the idea of them being linked in that way until today.... what is with all these dang pop ups trying to get you to buy random things?? My computer isn't the fastest so these adds have got to go. has anyone else had these show up?
Post about it in the Feeback group (on my phone so can't link from the app). Ads shouldn't pop up. Should be against Goodreads policy. Take note of what the ad is for (and grab a screenshot if you can), and let them know. They'll jump on it. (I've posted about similar things to them before, and they get taken care of quickly.)
thanks kara, I will watch and will do that. I haven't had any in the last hour or so but there was a lot in the beginning. It looked like the daily deal type things from amazon so I thought maybe it was a new addition from them. If I see it again I will let them know for sure

Like Lianne said...the first 2 episodes are a bit slow due to new introductions. Will be watching this past week's episode tomorrow, so I'm glad they are getting back on track and making it more exciting!
I have never heard of World Book Night, but apparently World Book Night is tonight! Is anyone going to be participating? I need to research and see what it is exactly.

I don't know what it is either

I watched the fourth episode today and it was awesome! It was fast paced and full of action. Best episode of the season so far and one of my favorites of the entire series.
Craig, are you watching the series?
Here is a list of books chosen for 2013 World Book Night List of 2013 World Book Night BooksWow, so apparently it is an organization that gives out free books to others to promote literacy!! Very cool idea!

yes I researched it also and it is on the April 23rd date as this is William Shakespeare's birthday and day of passing
I am struggling with a book. I will give it 11 more pages till chapter four but I may just give up or it will take me a month to read it! ahh! What does everyone do with books they are having trouble with? Give up? Stick with it?
Hmm...haven't read that so can't give you specific advice.I generally finish everything I start, but there have been a few exceptions. If I'm not feeling a book, I'll put it on the back burner and read other things in between. That usually helps a lot for me.
Its starting to get better. I like to finish everything I start also. This one will just take me a bit longer.
How's everyone's Sunday going? It was a beautiful day here in Kalamazoo, and we had our annual marathon. I'm not a runner, but I went out to cheer on my boyfriend. (And I may have committed to running the 5k next year. Yikes!)
I think we are working on about inches 2 or 3 of rain since Friday. We are stuck inside and it is b-o-r-i-n-g!!We went to church this morning and took care of the toddlers in the nursery. They are so fun! Then we went to eat Mexican food to celebrate Cinco-de-Mayo. We came home and I read some and we watched Talladega race...which is about to start again. They had like a 3 hour rain delay.
Yay Kara! 5k isn't really all that bad once you get started training...especially if you have some music to concentrate on. Thursday, before we had the 2nd Noah's Ark, I planned a 3.1 (5K) mile run and the next time I looked down I was at 5 miles. It's doable! Good luck! :)
I've been in New Orleans this weekend with some of my best friends! We did jazz fest yesterday and traveled around the city today, including a stop at Faulkner House Books - loved it!

a nice family day, church, good food and a lazy day.. plus I got my birthday gift from my mom early!
Megan- so jealous of your jazz fest visit, I went the last 2 years and missed it this year! I had a lazy weekend!
Any other Harry Potter fans here? I'm watching Harry Potter weekend on ABC Family and was just wondering.
I love Harry Potter but haven't seen the last two movies yet. I've read each book, though, over and over again.
Happy Mother's Day to all of our reader Moms out there. I think countries might celebrate Mother's Day in different months, but today is Mother's Day in the United States!Thank you Moms everywhere for all you do! :)
I love Harry Potter so much I cried in the theater when 7.2 ended. My boyfriend thought it was because of the ending. I got upset because he didn't understand. I was crying because the Harry Potter saga was over and I would never get to go to a book store for a Harry Potter release story or a theater for a premiere.Yes. I'm obsessed.
I've been curled up watching Harry Potter all weekend as my personal graduation gift!

I went to the midnight premiere of the movie and the tears that came out of everybody in that single theater was impressive. I myself was crying hard as well.

Happy Mothers Day to all you mom's or caretakers out there. I hope you have a great day filled with family and hopefully some good reading or recharge time as well!
Just saw "Great Gatsby" tonight. I loved it and thought it truly brought the book to life. Highly recommend!
That's great to hear! I've been waiting to see it until it comes to our little local theatre...can't wait!We saw Silver Linings Playbook there about a month ago, and that was awesome. If you haven't read the book, the book is great too: The Silver Linings Playbook. I suggest reading it first :-)
I haven't seen Great Gatsby yet, but I did see Star Trek: Into Darkness. I thought it was super enjoyable. Kaitlin, I don't think I even knew The Silver Linings Playbook was a book! How do you feel it compares to the movie?
Anyone else see a good movie recently?
Yeah I actually read it last summer and then was so excited to find out it was being made into a movie. The movie's a little more lighthearted and omits some scenes that are key in the book, but the meat of it is the same. I did love the movie (the acting was SO good) and I think it enhanced my experience to have read the book first and know more about the characters.
I saw The Great Gatsby last week - really made me want to read the book again - it has been years! I went with a friend who is a Fitzgerald fanatic and she said she thought this film had the best "Tom". It was a little over the top for me, but that's Baz Luhrmann's style. I saw it in 2D and could tell that it was directed/shot for 3D. I am looking forward to seeing Star Trek: Into Darkness!
I re-read the book in January. Super excited to watch the movie. I hope it lives up to the book.I also want to watch World War Z. I read the book last year and was okay. It looks like the movie is going to be better. Plus, Brad Pitt's starring in it so it can't be all bad. lol
I want to watch The Great Gatsby and The Silver Linings Playbook, but want to read the books first. I'm also interested in Star Trek, but I don't know anything about the story so far. I think I'm going to start with the original television series. World War Z sounds very interesting indeed. And the movie poster is beautiful! There are way too much movies I want to watch, I have a never-ending to-watch list.
I kind of want to the World War Z but I'm disappointed with all of the things they've changed from the book, I hate that they're runners now. Lianne - with the Star Trek reboot I watched the first of them without ever seeing the original show or films and found it was easy to follow and enjoy.
The last film I saw was Iron Man 3 and I loved it!
I haven't watched very many of the Star Trek TV episodes (some Star Trek: TNG, but that's it) and still found these new movies very entertaining. I'd probably watch the first Abrams reboot before Into Darkness, though.
Happy Towel Day!(For those of you who aren't familiar with it, it's a day to celebrate The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams.)
"It is known that there are an infinite number of worlds, simply because there is an infinite amount of space for them to be in. However, not every one of them is inhabited. Therefore, there must be a finite number of inhabited worlds. Any finite number divided by infinity is as near to nothing as makes no odds, so the average population of all the planets in the Universe can be said to be zero. From this it follows that the population of the whole Universe is also zero, and that any people you may meet from time to time are merely the products of a deranged imagination."
When is it going to feel like summer around here! I live in near Chicago and it's been gloomy rainy weather for 2 weeks already :(
Hello, group! I've been a little MIA lately because of the massive amounts of travel I've been doing. Summer is conference season! What do you associate with summer? (Hopefully you're not stuck at industry conferences like I am.)
Hope the conferences aren't too bad Kara! Summer for me means festival, I'm just back from a rock one and I am exhausted,I got to see 21 bands in 3 days though so I'm blissfully happy.
I'm at a work conference for the next two weeks solid! Tons of homework every night, so I don't know how much fun reading will get done the next two weeks.
Yeah, it's a legal conference and we have to prep different parts of the trial exercise each evening - absolutely crazy. I'm learning a ton but all I want to do at the end of the day is crash. I'm re-reading the Hunger Games trilogy, so at least I've got something else to escape too but even that is slow right now.

Yes I am. So far the third season is of the same quality as the first two seasons. The first two episodes were mostly about introducing new characters and giving updates on the other characters, so they were a bit slow. The third episode picked up the pace again though, and I'm looking forward to the next episode.
I have noticed that the television show is much easier to follow when you have read the books. I have to explain a lot of things to my friends, who don't read the books.
