Yes, and I'm fortunate to have good company to share it with me, in situ and virtually.

Thanks for sharing, Antonella. I knew nothing about Martello Towers, very interesting article.

:) It's great, isn't it? Great to have company that understands you and is there to share your happy moments (and the unhappy ones too...). This was my happy moment of the otherwise nightmarish workweek:

Emanuela ~plastic duck~ (manutwo) | 1768 comments Awww! great cover :)

Anne | 6816 comments I love it when there is a packet from Amazon in the mail. It is the feeling I remember from seeing the gifts under the tree on Christmas eve:). I even enjoy the smell of the package, it is something very distinctive which has the taste of anticipation of a new story. What a lovely book this is too.

message 106: by Eve (last edited Sep 05, 2012 10:14AM) (new)

Eve (evieeve) | 701 comments I got mine from amazon uk today as well :-)
Happy to report that the font size is very clear... for readers like me who is refusing to acknowledge the need for reading glasses....

The smaller print book next to it is Joseph Hansen's Brandstetter collection, it's purely for collection - I can't read any page without getting a headache :-P

Dangerous Ground collection

I haven't decided yet if I'll buy it. I should stop to collect book by Josh in both version, electronic and print, it is a bit insane.

That pic is very impressive. But I still plan to read the 1000 Brandstetter's pages!

Yup, the font size isn't definitely too small. ;)

A lot of THAT going on around here (insanity and passion for Josh's books — both electronic and print). *grin* And when we all seem to behave that way, that actually makes it a perfectly normal behavior, right? :)

Packages with books in them are the best kind! They practically make me hop with excitement every time. This one wasn't exception — I'm afraid that all the jumping was completed with a loud whoop too...

Calathea | 6034 comments Wonderful pictures! In thelastaerie's pic the gun on the cover looks like 3D. At first glance I thought it was a real one.

The pics make my fingers itch to hit the "Buy" button on ama, too. Maybe next month or maybe I could invest some of my birthday money... I still want to buy the hard copy of All She Wrote (Holmes & Moriarity, #2) by Josh Lanyon and Irregulars by Nicole Kimberling . Decisions, decisions. *sigh*

Yes! Let's hear everyone's what I did on summer vacation stories. :-D Seriously, though. I love traveling vicariously.

Plus it helps me figure out where to set my next stories.

Emanuela ~plastic duck~ (manutwo) | 1768 comments I would love to see Will and Taylor in Gibraltar. I went there last year and it's crazy. Parts of it resemble a regular English town, parts of it are like the old New York docks, then you have the whole Mediterranean sun, sky and sea and colors and also a touch of North-Africa. I was impressed that bus drivers speak fluently at least three languages - Spanish, English and Arab (but I don't know which Arab exactly) and also a sort of dialect typical of the place. It was chaotic and I can't say I liked it, but it gave me sensory overload. And Africa is just there, you can almost touch it. And the monkeys on the Rock. And there are caves you can walk in and they're a bit scary, you feel you're inside the womb of the earth. Plus internationally I think it's a sort of mess with passports and the likes and if you want to, you can convert your euros to pounds or they'll rip you off when you have to buy something in euros - you come from the Euro-zone, you know.

If I haven't sold you on Gibraltar, well, Berlin is a wonderful city, with incredible modern architecture and I can't help thinking about the metro ghost stations which were dismissed after the building of the wall in order to prevent people from jumping off the trains in the Western part of the city. If I were a writer, my plot bunnies would be working over time ;-) Also, there's an underground train station under Potsdamer Platz, it's all steel and glass and escalators, I could already see the guys running up and down and jumping here and there.

And of course, I know you gave them Paris, but why not Venice? Or if you're looking for chaotic with a touch of hystory, Rome would be great. Or chaotic/neurotic: Milan. Shameless, I know :-)

Emanuela! You made me smile so wide with your description of all those wonderful places!!! And the best thing is that I really saw Will and Taylor feeding the bold monkeys in Gibraltar and running around Potsdamer Platz. :) But how come you forgot Florence from your list... ;)

Emanuela ~plastic duck~ (manutwo) | 1768 comments Johanna wrote: "But how come you forgot Florence from your list... ;)"

Florence is the best, but it's difficult to imagine a reason why they would be there, apart from vacation, of course. Or maybe if someone tried to steal works of art. Oh, yeah! :D

It was hot. We didn't do any sight-seeing as such, but I enjoyed comparing the Mediterranean to the North Sea. (The main difference being that we could see the jellyfish before they struck and could therefore avoid them :D) There was a lot of drinking and a lot of people watching. We kept the patrons of one particular beach bar amused, but I'm not at liberty to say how.

I received my copy about a week ago. Yes, the font size and type spacing could have been smaller — a bit more economical and a touch more elegant — but it's still a handsome book. And my aging eyes are amenable.
