Ariana When Sirius, Dumbledore, and Hedwig died. MY POOR BABIES!

message 102: by Uday (last edited Jun 15, 2014 02:34AM) (new) - added it

Uday Kanth My favorite moment was when Sirius offers Harry to stay with him in the third book. It was more felt in the movie, the one that gave me so much hope and happiness. And it pains me to this day that Harry was never able to experience it. He and Sirius would have had such a good time together.

Yeah, that was a real shame. It would have been cool to read about them living together, or at least cooler than hearing about the Dursleys at the start of every book!

Brittany The most emotional part of the series as far as sadness goes for me is when Harry is about to die and he talks with his parents, Sirius, and Lupin. I always cry at that part.

message 105: by Jmo (new) - rated it 5 stars

Jmo For me it was when Dumbledore died.

message 106: by Megan (new) - rated it 5 stars

Megan Spencer The moment I cried the most was when Sirius dies! it was all he had left of his real family and then he died! it was soo sad! the hardest part for me to read and watch.

message 107: by فاطمة (last edited Jun 16, 2014 05:36AM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

فاطمة Every single second of the whole series is emotional. And I'm not even exaggerating. When Harry says goodbye to Ron and Hermione when he thinks he's gonna die I just... And when Sirius died so did I. When Fred died I fell into deep depression. When Harry was made godfather of Tonks and Lupin's son I was so happy and then they almost IMMEDIATELY DIED (not literally but it was way too soon.) When Dumbeldore died I went in shock for a few days. When Snape died I was anything but okay. And when Neville stood up to Voldemort I was extremely emotional.

message 108: by [deleted user] (last edited Jun 16, 2014 09:43AM) (new)

Tears slid down from my eyes when Dumbledore died. He died a tragic death. Then a load of other awesome characters died, and I'm just like, what the heck, JK Rolling??!! I get its war and all, but, seriously!! Anyway, Dumbledore's death was very touching to me. :*-(
I was also very emotional when Harry used the stone thing that was part of the Deathly Hollows (Forgive me, but the stone's name slips my mind) and it brought his parent's ghost with Sirius, it was very... sad, I want to say. Then they were talking what it was like dying, and it was just... tear worthy. I could've gone with out the death conversation.

It's called the Resurrection Stone. :) You're right that was a really emotional scene. But then a lot of the scenes in the later books are emotional.

message 110: by [deleted user] (new)

Daisy, thanks for the reminder!! But I thought that scene was in the last book, so how could "a lot of scenes in the later books" be emotional too?? WAS THERE ANOTHER SERIES AFTER IT AND NO ONE TOLD ME?!?!

Daisy kmaefantasy wrote: "Daisy, thanks for the reminder!! But I thought that scene was in the last book, so how could "a lot of scenes in the later books" be emotional too?? WAS THERE ANOTHER SERIES AFTER IT AND NO ONE TOL..."

Nonononono, that's not what I meant, sorry to mislead you! I meant the later book in the HP series, you know, Order of the Phoenix, Half-Blood Prince and Deathly Hallows. I realize now it didn't really make sense . . . sorry about that!

message 112: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh! Ok, thats alright. I almost had a heart attack. But how awesome would it be if she did write a second series????!!! It could be like their kids having an adventure!!

message 113: by nicole (new) - rated it 5 stars

nicole The deaths of Fred, Snape, Dumbledore, Tonks, Lupin and Sirius (especially Sirius) were so sad, but I thought the worst was that very last scene in the Deathly Hallows when Harry says goodbye to his children at the station and says their names... just remembering all that happened and seeing how happy they are in the end, having life in the end really gets to me

message 114: by [deleted user] (new)

Agreed.

Gabriela When Sirius died, I was reading in the bus and started crying.

LOL!! The bus!!! Hehehehe!! Don't worry, I got emotional too, but I was at home.

Daisy kmaefantasy wrote: "Oh! Ok, thats alright. I almost had a heart attack. But how awesome would it be if she did write a second series????!!! It could be like their kids having an adventure!!"

lol! I think there's quite a lot of fanfictions about their kids . . . you could give them a try.

message 118: by [deleted user] (new)

Fanfictions? I've heard of that but I've never known what it meant

message 119: by C.T. (new) - rated it 5 stars

C.T. Tunnell The death of Serius Black hit me pretty hard. So did Hagrid being chased out of Hogwarts by Umbridge and her cronies.

Kressel Housman When Luna told Harry what was beyond the veil. I had to put the book down a few moments, I was tearing up so much.

Courtney I haven't read it in a while, but I think when Ron came back, and Hermione went completely phsyco at him (back part of Deathly Hallows - in the forest). That bit sent me to the floor laughing. I guess all the death and stuff in it made it so much funnier. (Is that in the movie or the book? I can't remember! It all blurs together really!!!) Probably not what you meant, but...oh, well.

message 122: by Lacy (last edited Jun 18, 2014 11:27AM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Lacy M One of my favorite overlooked and super emotionally charged moments is when Harry is yelling at and chastising Remus, someone he once considered a mentor. I thought it really showed how Harry had matured into a grown man worth fighting such huge battles. The argument struck me as a very mature, sobering moment to go with the darker tone of Deathly Hallows. And, of course, I absolutely adore Remus Lupin so his moment of weakness is equally a keen one for me. He was abandoning his wife and child in the face of war.

Also, one of the most unjustified unions of death that I found in the series was the death of Remus and Tonks. I was devastated by the loss of Fred and Dobby, but Remus and Tonks needn't both have died for the cause. I almost felt an impotent wrath and anger towards the fate they were dealt and maybe I grudged Tonks her decision to go into battle when she was a new mother.

I was also the most touched in Half Blood Prince when Dumbledore is being supported by Harry in the thrashing waters, and Dumbledore says to Harry, "I am not worried, I am with you." It's damn near my favorite quote of the whole series.

Say we go backwards here, because another one of the most emotional scenes for me was when Harry went berserk at the end of Order of the Phoenix. The lack of support he felt after the death of Cedric and the events of the graveyard changed him. He felt he was lacking support and it was a dark year for him in which we suffered alongside him. I thought the scene following Sirius's death was an emotionally packing punch for the end of the book and the way he raged at Dumbledore was so dark, so befitting the situation. Dumbledore was right, Harry bled with how much he cared about the tragedy.

message 123: by Kaya (new) - rated it 4 stars

Kaya Sirius' death, whole battle for Hogwarts and its aftermath. Sometimes, I think about re-reading the series one more time and I just can't read about Sirius' and Fred's death all over again.

message 124: by Daisy (last edited Jun 19, 2014 04:59AM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Daisy kmaefantasy wrote: "Fanfictions? I've heard of that but I've never known what it meant"

It means when fans of the series have written a sequel or prequel or the series from somebody else's point of view or something like that. For example there's some about James' (Harry's son) adventures at Hogwarts and one about what happened at Hogwarts while Harry, Ron and Hermione were away looking for the hocruxes from Neville's point of view and stuff like that.

I don't think fanfictions are approved by the author and so aren't always entirely accurate but they can be pretty cool. Hope this helped. :)

message 125: by Kit (new) - rated it 1 star

Kit Ironically, I cried the most when Harry was being "tortured" by Umbridge. I was listening to it, and it scared me, because I was like 10. Now, I cry every SINGLE time I reread Dobby's death scene.

message 126: by Ariana (new) - rated it 5 stars

Ariana @Catherine I read Dobby's death in school, and I actually cried in front of my teacher.

message 127: by Hannah (new) - rated it 5 stars

Hannah Kelly The last two books for sure. When Dumbledore and Draco have their conversation on the astronomy tower, and the Prince's tale in deathly hallows. For the movies though I will say the resurrection stone scene makes me cry.

Natasha when Sirius died.
Or when Harry was back at the Dursleys all alone and thinking about his parents.
In the films though- omg all the tears were for the mirror of erised

Natasha deleted user wrote: "When Lupin and Tonks died. I cried. That was so uncool."

I was kind of expecting lots of people to die- but with Lupin and Tonks i really didn't see it coming at all! I cried for hours

Wow can't believe this thread was brought back after 2 years lol.

Anyway, I think my feels about Tonks and Remus were more akin to shock, horror and then bitter sadness. I sobbed for sure, but I think it's the only time I was really resentful about a death in the series.

message 131: by Kirsten (last edited Jul 15, 2014 02:16PM) (new) - rated it 3 stars

Kirsten I've never watched all of the films, they just didn't do the books justice for me.
I was really upset when Sirius died, but mainly from the fact that Harry had lost his chance at a real family than for Sirius.
When Dumbledore died I was literally heart broken, I hated Snape in that moment and I felt really sorry for Malfoy too. The whole scene was really emotional, I was quite young at the time and I actually shouted at the book and cried haha.
Umbridge I could have happily murdered in just about every part she was in, she never failed to make me livid. If I'm remembering correctly I cried at certain parts when she was being awful to Harry, where he had to write I must not tell lies for one.
Snape dying and giving Harry his memories was an unexpected emotional time for me too. His loyalty to Lilly was inspiring, even though he hated James and didn't care much for Harry he wanted him safe for Lilly's sake.

message 132: by Ruby (new) - rated it 5 stars

Ruby I never really got that emotional while reading the series, but a few things got me:

Kreacher's tale about how Regulus was drowned really haunted me. I felt so sorry for this noble character we didn't even know and for Kreacher, who had to live with the secret for so long.

The battle of Howarts wasn't exactly empotional for me either; I was just amazed by how awesome it was.

Sarvenaz Shawna wrote: "I think the most emotional moment for me was in Prisoner of Azkaban when Sirius tells Harry who he really is and offers to have Harry come live with him. I was just so happy. Harry would finally ge..."

Omg i feel so much like you in the second part of your comment. My friends never even took a peek at the books so they have no idea about them and when i laugh when they say there* serious * because of sirius they look at me like im crazy so i have to keep the world inside of my head and act like its just a book and all of the characters are just characters. So when I read its Okay i was so happy:)

message 134: by Vinay (last edited Dec 23, 2014 11:05AM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Vinay Kumar My emotional moment was the death of the snape and his background story, I mean he died protecting the only child of his love, never even got the time to say goodbye to his love and harry.Even at the time of his death he wanted look at harry`s eyes which resemble lily`s, A true lover lost his way but died protecting a child who born to the man who he hates (james) and his love (lily). And another emotional moment was the death of dobby.Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

message 135: by Arya (last edited Dec 23, 2014 10:37PM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Arya For me it was Snape 's memory after he died as well as Hedwig's death as he was protecting Harry unaware of the danger of staying close to his master as it will pinpoint the correct Harry among the many duplicates. Also, Dobby's death.Sirius's and Fred's death devastated me. :(

message 136: by Meghan (new) - rated it 5 stars

Meghan Gregoire the part I cry at the most every time I read the series or watch the movie is when Harry is about to "die" and he talks to his parents, lupin and all them as ghosts.

Sarvenaz Movie : when harry was about to die and saw his parents and they say that there always with him and snape memory's.

Book: when dumbledore dies *sobs* and when harry had the talk about the phrophesy after the death of sirius and his all depressed.

message 138: by [deleted user] (new)

My most emotional moment was Doby's death and Lupin and Tonks' death.

message 139: by Jillian (last edited Jul 17, 2015 03:28AM) (new) - rated it 4 stars

Jillian Allen For me it was from the moment Sirius died all the way until after Harry was done yelling at Dumbledore.

Sirius' last words get me every time.

Harry's anguish gets me every time.

Dumbledore crying over Harry's anguish and Sirius' death gets me every time.

And "You care so much you feel as though you will bleed to death with the pain of it," gets me every time.

I just become a sobbing mess every time I read this part of HP + the Order of the Phoenix, and it doesn't matter how many times I've read it.

Also, the epilogue turns me into a blubbering baby every time I read it, ("All was well" is just NEVER going to be okay) so that part gets an honorable mention for sure, but Sirius' death takes the cake.
