Thank you, Ignite! I'll do that. Gingerlily, I used to live in Co. Cork and before that Co. Galway. Connemara. Are you Irish?

I lived in Ireland all my life till I turned 18 then I moved to Scotland for Uni and never went back. I was in the north though.

She'll be extolling the virtues of pole dancing.
She's a hussy in trainers, she is.

Hi Felicity and welcome to our little paradise.
Hi Felicity and welcome to our little paradise.Beware of moderators who accuse pole dancing Reebok wearers of hussy-like activities.
I'm calculating that this thread will be reset before the aforementioned moderator can read it.
Sod it! She tried to convince me that tomorrow is the 1st. Her effect is subliminal, as I appear to have fallen for it.
 Hi everyone
Hi everyoneI joined Goodreads last year but have never really explored the site as I mainly post on the Amazon Kindle forum. I have finally got totally fed up with the way that forum has been taken over by trolls so here I am.
I must say I think Goodreads is a really good site and there is so much to explore and get involved in. I'm looking forward to spending a lot of time on here and getting to know people in a 'virtual' way. I've joined some groups and hope to join in some of the discussions.
I kept thinking it was bound to improve but as everyone who wanted to discuss Kindles and books gradually left it just got worse and worse. I can't see why Amazon don't act because it doesn't do their best selling product any favours.

Hi Damascat! Glad to see that you made it here. I haven't posted on amazon for several weeks now. Shame a few people came along and spoiled it. A lot of the old regulars are here now so enjoy catching up!

I hung in there as long as I could, because there are some fun and helpful people, but nearly every discussion gets hijacked and then gets nasty. I only post on the never-ending story now, although I am active on some of the other forums.

Yes I recognise some of the names here. It is a pity that just a few people spoiled it all.

A huge thank you for all the welcome messages! And nice to meet you, Damaskat.

Hi Felicity - that could be the disadvantage as I can see the money I spend on books increasing :-)
Welcome Felicity and Damaskcat to the best forum where all are lovely and helpful and actually discuss books among many other things .

 Hi Damaskcat and felicity,
Hi Damaskcat and felicity,New people do find it a bit tricky to get around here to start but it is worth the effort (I would say that wouldn't I?).
You deserve a gold medal for perseverance Damaskcat.
If you need help, just ask. The September books will be out tomorrow too!
-------------------------------------------------
If you are new to the group and really don't know how to start, try this.....
1. Go and introduce yourself here (optional)
2. Click Unread on the homepage. You will find this to the right of 'Discussion Board' in grey.
3. Roll all the way to the bottom of the page and click 'Mark all as Read'
4. You will now probably have an empty page. Now click refresh on your browser and watch the live discussions start building.
5. Whenever you return to the group click on Unread to see what has been going on.
Of course you will miss all the old discussions this way but as you get more confident in the group you can go and meander around the cobwebbed threads!
If you get stuck just ask!
The underlined words do what they say they do, so just click away (watch out the 'mark all as Read' link will do what it says if you click it - no going back).
Hi Damaskcat - I'm really glad you've joined us. When I first got my kindle - heck, nearly 2 years ago, you were always unfailingly patient and helpful with the new owners and their interminable questions. (Our interminable questions - I was one!)

Thanks! I'm starting to wonder after the last few days whether someone was posting in my name on the Amazon forum! I have only ever been rude to people who have been rude in the first place and have not responded when people have tried to goad me.
Anyway - I don't want to bring those problems here so thank you for the welcome and for the information. I'm gradually exploring the site.
Hello and welcome Damaskcat,I learned loads from the Amazon site when I was a Kindle newbie and of course it led me to this wonderful site over a year ago now. Looking forward to getting to know you!

Glad to know I helped you - I was starting to think I'd helped no one the way people have been talking recently.

Glad you've decided to come back Damaskcat! We are a friendly bunch, no sniping - and we even talk about books!

 Morning all,

Welcome all new members.
The morning thread seems to be the place to ramble although I still don't know when it will be so big it stops working!
