The cherry and fudge made me think of an ice cream sundae, not a scone! Thanks for the welcome.

Skyler West (skylerwest) | 25 comments Hello everyone. Pleasure to meet you all. I'm feeling a little lost at the moment, but I'm sure I'll get the hang of how to navigate around the site pretty quickly.

I'm Skyler West. I live in Scotland, and I'm an author and a reader. I read thrillers, love stories, sci-fi, and fantasy (although nothing is really off limits if it grabs me).

And in terms of writing, I've just released my debut thriller novel today, which is very exciting.

message 259: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Hi Skyler - if you manage to find your way there, we have a Meet the Authors section. You're very welcome to start your own thread there and tell us all about your thriller. We love authors here (unless they stick in our teeth!) - Joking. Really, get settled in and tell us all about it.

message 260: by Harriet (new)

Harriet Schultz | 36 comments Congratulations on the publication of your novel! I'm new also, but you can post information about yourself and your book on the authors' thread so that people can find it.
Best luck!

Skyler West (skylerwest) | 25 comments Thank you for the very warm welcome Ignite and Harriet. I feel at home already :) I found the Meet the Authors section. An accomplishment! And I posted a little something about me and the book.

Geoff (G. Robbins) (merda constat variat altitudo) (snibborg) | 8204 comments Hi Skyler and welcome. This is only the second time I've heard of someone with that name. The other one is female and fictional, so I suppose, in that respect, you are the first.

I hope you enjoy yourself here and that your book is a roaring success. I wish that of all our authors.

Edited to correct the incorrect spelling of Skyler.

Vanessa: I'll be sure to point you back in the direction I'm going, although I can't promise it's the correct direction. :) What's the best way to get people added as friends? I'm not sure how to get friends. My account looks a bit lonely :(

message 281: by L. (last edited Aug 26, 2012 11:42AM) (new)

L. Wells (l_wells) | 41 comments A tad random i know, but a family friend breeds them... and she made the mistake of letting me hold a tiny chick... When i normally hold an animal- i nornally end up buying one .... Some people have them in their houses with little nappies on (dont think id go that far) * I only know this btw as i happened to find it on google**lol, was thinking of a nice run outside... In two minds at moment as have a little fear the dogs will c my duck as dinner, lol :)

Geoff (G. Robbins) (merda constat variat altitudo) (snibborg) | 8204 comments Of course Laura said duck. Why shouldn't she mention one of the most awesome creatures? We have four ducks, a dog, four cockatiels and a spider under the couch.

Welcome aboard Laura.

L. Wells (l_wells) | 41 comments lol i think i've started something :)

message 284: by L. (new)

L. Wells (l_wells) | 41 comments fankoo :) lol,

any adivce on ducks? My hubby is worried they are going to make too much noise... i told him the ones i'm looking at dont quack.... :) lol

message 285: by Geoff (G. Robbins) (merda constat variat altitudo) (last edited Aug 26, 2012 12:09PM) (new)

Geoff (G. Robbins) (merda constat variat altitudo) (snibborg) | 8204 comments They all quack, Laura. It depends on their mood. They are also extremely bossy.

Most domestic ducks are descended from Aylesburys. We have Campbell Whites, but some Indian Runner got into a couple of them. Make sure you get all females or you'll be getting fights and all sorts of problems as the males will not leave the females alone.

They are great fun. Ours keep our big, brave Labrador in a perpetual state of nervousness as they have a habit of chasing him around and taking things out of his mouth.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Don't they eat couch spiders?

I'd have one if they ate couch spiders.

message 287: by L. (new)

L. Wells (l_wells) | 41 comments lol yeah he didnt believe me either to be fair... Was worth a try :)

she's breeding appleyards... Not really an animal i know too much about, (just fell in love with them) like the fact they are bossy- love animals with a personality-

lol now i'd love to see that- not too good for the labs street cred mind, Def a U-tube/ you've been framed hit in the making :)

message 288: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Hi Laura - I'm a birdy person. We have budgies and chickens.
We have lots of excellent fantasy authors here - browse the Author threads. There are hidden ones too. Click the small print next to the big Meet the Authors title and there are hundreds!

message 289: by L. (new)

L. Wells (l_wells) | 41 comments :) thank you :)
How many do you have?
Mom has a budgie called earnie- he's certainly a character- don't think he likes me very much tho :( as he doesn't eat anything to get his beak down- so ends up curling and growing into his little chest- so I have the Job of cutting his beak (and nails) - not something I like doing, but when it gets too long he can't eat- (I get all the nice jobs with the animals) :) how many budgies do u have?

message 290: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Just two of each at the moment but the chicken numbers will go up before too long.
One of our budgies not only beaks the cuttlebone to bits he also 'eats' the perches. We have a long dowel in the shed to cut new ones from.

message 291: by L. (last edited Aug 27, 2012 02:11AM) (new)

L. Wells (l_wells) | 41 comments Ours won't eat anything except his seed, he's so stubborn, we've tried everything, but anything he can do to be awkward... Ha, he's beautiful tho, deep green with little markings :) we had to look after my aunts budgie for a few weeks while she was moving house- thought be nice for earnie to have a friend (was in his own cage next to earni) he sulked the whole time, and didn't tweet once - oh dear, very set. In his ways :)

Do u have makes or females? Or one of each? How do they get on together? Really shame I didn't get little man a friend when I brought him for mom- know he wouldnt take to another bird now... Think he's about 4 now :)

message 292: by L. (new)

L. Wells (l_wells) | 41 comments Sorry about mistakes, on iPhone... Nightmare :(

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments They're both chaps. Don't fight but occasionally sidle up to one another wonderingly!

message 294: by L. (new)

L. Wells (l_wells) | 41 comments Awww bless em :) I really think that animals make a house a home, I know not everyone would agree, but just so nice them being there, really makes the little room come to life- our little cat used to spend all her time in moms kitchen- she passed away last week at 19- the rooms horrable now with out her there :(

Felicity Savage (felicitysavage) | 4 comments Hello everyone! I'm an American writer based in Tokyo. Lived in the UK and Ireland before that. I write mostly fantasy but I've also got a suspense novel and two collections out -- one occult-themed, one based on my experiences here in Tokyo.

All, of course, are available on Kindle! For those of us living in non-English-speaking countries, the Kindle is a godsend.

Happy to meet you all!
