Regan | 138 comments In honor of Herman Melville's birthday, Moby-Dick is free at Tantor. This apparently came out around 4pm (Pacific) yesterday (Wednesday), so the clock is ticking on this one.

Thanks, Regan! I just downloaded it! I also got Daughter of Smoke and Bone and A Tale of Two Cities free today from Tantor's YA Summer promotion!

A day late and a dollar short on this one. I'm so sorry I missed it!

Regan | 138 comments Sorry about that! I posted here as soon as I heard about it, but it was pretty far into the day at that point.

I thought the "free on the author's birthday" was a fun idea for a promotion. I heard about it from someone else and passed it along here. Keeping up with the free offers is like a treasure hunt -- sometimes you get the prize, sometimes not, and I think that's kind of fun.

That's a tricky question – most any genre you can think of has it's fans with audiobook readers. I do know that sometimes we see complaints from readers who are outside the US and aren't permitted to download due to regional publishing restrictions. So the more you can offer with global permissions, the better!

I personally love classics and mysteries!

Tantor | 8 comments Thanks for the reply, Regan! Classics + mysteries = Sherlock Holmes. We've given away Holmes titles before. Would you like to take a look at the ones we have and let me know if you see any that would be especially interesting as a free giveaway. There are about a dozen different ones here: http://www.tantor.com/AuthorDetail.as...

Regan | 138 comments I know a lot of folks (including myself) have read a couple of the novels and recently The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, and Sherlock on the BBC has gotten us all interested in Moriarty. So The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes might be a good choice!
