I'm in search of good stories, here's the most read story on the LitVote site to date, the sublime 'Vale of Cashmere' from VOICE FROM THE PLANET. Got any?

Hi everyone! I am looking forward to seeing how everyone else goes on their challenges and what books get added to read:) I love to read , and am addicted with no doubt! Books go everywhere with me...including walks..shhh!
Hi!Not sure if I've actually posted in here yet..
I joined Goodreads a few months ago and I'm just starting to post more on here and take part in challenges so I thought I'd best say hi!
I read lots of things but mainly: horror/crime/historical fiction and classics.
I am trying to expand my repertoire though so watch this space haha!
Hi guys! :) I'm Mim, 20 years old and currently studying in England. It's the biggest cliche ever, but I really don't have one particular genre that I like the most. There's stuff I'm less likely to read (I'm not the biggest reader of crime or horror or thrillers, for example), and stuff I'm pickier about (I'm very very picky about my romance novels), but anything's got a fair shot, really. I haven't been doing much reading this year yet due to a lot of uni work piling up (sigh!), but I plan to get my ass in gear once the exam period is over. All the monthly challenges in particular look yummy, and I'm definitely gonna attempt some as soon as I can. Right now, though, I'm making my way through Les Miserables, and totally loving it. :D
(I went on a bit, sorry!)
Hi I'm new to this group. Loving the look of all the challenges and cant' wait to get stuck in. I love reading - I used to mainly read science fiction, fantasy and paranormal but I've branched out more recently and enjoy reading historical fiction, dystopia and post-apocalyptic books too.

Hi everyone! :) Love the history challenge you guys have and have been meaning to brush up on my knowledge. Hopefully, this will motivate me.Not been reading much lately since my exams are near :( Can't wait for the summmers to catch up on all the books that I have to read.
      Thanks for the welcome :)@Denisa
Hi Denisa, nice to meet you. Mine is electric too, I started playing a few months ago and I'm loving it. My goal is to read 30 books, I hope I can stick to it, but I'm waiting for the summer holidays to catch up.
@Craig
Hello Craig. I haven't read any of her books yet, but they are on my TBR list :)
      Hi allWelcome to the group!!
I must admit I've failed hopelessly at reading the number of books I have wanted to this year. I've been moving around a lot and just haven't had the time.. I'm hoping to start meeting my goal of a book a month soon.
Hi everyone I'm Vania. I've always loved to read since I was a kid. I would finish harry potter books in a day. I'm a senior in Fordham University and will be graduating this Spring. College has been hectic and I haven't been reading as many books as I've liked. I'm really excited to join this group and get great book recommendations from everyone.

Hi I'm Tina, I found out about this group through Jack when I was visiting his page. I like this group is active and isn't too pressuring! I'm 15 years old and I'm a high school student :)

Hello everyone! I am just looking around and have set a goal for my of 150 books this year! Wish me luck! (Although, I already have finished 32 books!)

Hi everyone,I'm Jennifer, from Arizona. I am a student double majoring in Criminal Justice and Social Work. I work full time at an urgent care clinic. I have a boyfriend, his two kids, and two cats. I love reading and I am kind of a book hoarder. I've been on Goodreads since 2010. I'm a challenge addict. This year I have taken part in a spring cleaning challenge and went through all my tbr to make sure they're still books I want to read. I love to read everything but especially paranormal (both YA and Adult). Lately I'm on a memoir kick. My goal this year is 150.
It's nice to meet everyone.
Jennifer
Hi! My name is Noelle, and I love to read. I've been on Goodreads since December, and I'm really enjoying it. I've been looking for a new group to join, and this one seemed great! I'm currently reading The Missing Book 1: Found by Margaret Peterson Haddix. Have any of you read it? xoxo,
N
Hi Jennifer and Noelle! Jennifer: what types of things do you write?
Noelle: I haven't read that one yet--what do you think about it?
Hi there, everybody! My name's Jana and I love to read and write. I've been on Goodreads ever since, like, February of last year but I've only really paid attention to this site just recently. My goal this year is 50 (which, compared to some of your goals, looks measly) and I'm a bit behind on that due to some time constrictions (and also poor planning in my part). Fortunately, though, I'm going to have a lot of free time soon and, hopefully, by then I could afford to change my goal to 75 books. I read almost anything, but I've been having way too much fun with biographies lately (so if y'all have some recommendations, feel free to send me some!).xxx Jana
HelloI'm Tineke, 24 years old with a daughter of almost 4 years old. She seems to like books, just like me. I am from the Netherlands. Am about to start a 4 year long study English Language and Culture at the university. I enjoy challenges and read just about everything, except chicklit which I don't like and scifi, which I never tried. Favourite genres are thrillers and historical fiction.
Hey guys! I'm Olivia. I'm 15 years old and a freshman in high school. I love reading and watching television shows and dancing and nerdy things so yeah. Haha

Hi! My name is Erin. I'm a stay-at-home wife / stepmom and over the past year, I've let laziness and Netflix take over my life. As someone who has always been a voracious reader, I'm a bit disappointed in myself for letting books fall to the wayside and I am ready to get back to my old habits. Reading makes me happy. It makes me feel that I've done something worthwhile with my day, even if I've neglected every to-do task in favor of getting lost in an amazing story. But I've let myself fall into the trap of the Netflix time-suck, which allows me to stream shows while I do any number of other things. It's been difficult to get back into the groove of doing one thing at a time. But I'm ready to really get back to it.
I've set a goal of 26 books for the year. As I am trying to re-focus on taking the housewife thing seriously (it is, after all, my "job"; I should be treating it with the respect I would a paying gig), I have to give myself time to clean, cook, parent, wife (yes, it's a verb right now), paint the walls, tackle projects, be more active, spend the summer with my stepson (who is super excited to do a reading challenge with me!), stay on top of my correspondence and get back to volunteer work.
When it comes down to it, I'd like to be a super-mom. You know, one of those moms that everyone admires and wonders "how does she do it all?!". And part of that is fitting in a good amount of reading. Hey, we all have our shallow reasons for doing things, even if there are deeper roots, too.
So, there you have it. I'm excited to have found this group. I have been on GoodReads for a while now, but haven't been particularly active. I'm hoping that being here, being part of this challenge, will help me to stay on top of my goals and honor my commitments.
I look forward to getting to know you guys!
Erin
Noelle wrote: "What kinds of things do you write?"I write all kinds of things based on what my clients' needs are. Currently, I am writing a screenplay, a couple of confidential projects, business reviews, recipes, a survival book, and a book on cancer. I have had a few things published under my name, but mostly the things I write are ghostwritten.
Hi! *waves* This is embarassing. I thought I joined this group back in December? *looks ashamed* Apparently, I got so excited that I forgot to actually join? I originally set a goal of 100 books for 2013, but I just looked and updated today and I'm at 128. I think I will have to enlarge my goal?
As you can probably tell, I'm a voracious reader. I always have been, ever since I was a toddler. My father gnashed his teeth over keeping me in books as a child.
All I can say is "thank the gods for e-books". No more hovering at the bookstore entrance waiting for them to open. No more shady deals on corners for book trades at midnight. I can easily get my fix online and have that hot much read in my little hands in mere moments.
I loved the idea of a reading challenge. One must have goals after all *laughs*. Anyway, I am going to go look through the past posts just to enjoy being with "like minded people".
Hope everyone is having a great day..and look..it's the weekend (a long one in the US)..so many days for reading!
Hi I'm Sophie from Wales, UK. I've been on a bit of a reading hiatus after being pregnant and totally losing my concentration for a few months! It is only now returning almost halfway through 2013 so I have set myself the very modest challenge of reading 20 books this year, though hopefully I can surpass this. This looks like a great group for keeping motivated and I do love a challenge!
I have very eclectic tastes and will try most things but my main love is for classics, particularly 20th century fiction. I definitely don't tend to stick with one type of subject matter. Some of my favourite authors are Raymond Chandler, Stephen King, Evelyn Waugh, Gabriel Garcia Marquez and Charles Dickens, but I am always on the lookout for that next great book/author/series to fall in love with! Looking forward to reading along with you :)

Thanks for a hilarious intro. =) I'm with you on e-books. I'd been waiting for them to become mainstream for years. Feels great to be living in the future.
Hello, I'm Stacia. I am a stay at home mother to two very special little boys. My eldest son is 3 years old and my youngest is 13 months old. Generally, I tend to read a ton, when I can find the time. I thought joining some groups would be fun to socialize with other book lovers and possibly makes some new friends.

The various challenges have been great—I find that the way they structure and guide my reading has made my reading time more purposeful and fun.
Welcome!
Just joined and have no idea what I'm doing. Just starting tracking the books I've read since March -thought it would be fun-lol. Just finished memoirs of a geisha now starting a Louise Penny book. Favourite book ... Probably prayer for Owen meany.

Hey Kara, I'm Anna, i run a book blog over at RoxelanaBooks.com. I'm aiming to read more this year - haven't got a specific challenge yet! I'm mainly into classics, thrillers (especially scandinavian) and feminist books.

I am Breanne. I have a beautiful 3 month old baby girl and am LOVING being a Mom. Although I can't get 'lost' in books for hours like I used to- I am still enjoying reading and am constantly trying to widen my 'comfort zone' and read different books/genre's.

Hello everyone. I found this website through a coworker and was looking for a group to join when I happened upon yours. Just recently I started to write again and created my first book blog. I'm a mother of two small boys and have been reading ever since I can remember. My tastes seem to gravitate more toward mystery/suspense, but I do love other types of literature with my favorite book being Jane Austen's "Pride and Prejudice". I have never participated in a challenge before and am looking forward to reading many new and amazing books!

That is one admirable goal! I did that many summers. Haunting the library is not a bad thing...it's usually nicely air conditioned.
I am Spectacles (I go by my blog name because my account is linked to my blog and I wanted to be anonymous). I have always loved reading, but it's weird because my parents haven't really been voracious readers like my brother and I have been. Ever since last year though, I've been reading less and that has made me very sad. I love reading, so I am using both my Goodreads and blog accounts to get back into reading!

Hello! My name is Joelle, I'm 16, and I really opened myself up to books when I was 11. Since then, I haven't been able to put them down!
My favorite genre is historical fiction (history junkie-all the way!), started by a book my grandma lent me, The Proud Breed; and some guilty pleasure romance novels. Of course, I love books that can make me think, cry, laugh, or want to read a hundred times over.
I'm really excited about discussing books! Love hearing other people's opinions. And suggestions are always welcomed.

Hi! I'm totally new to this group, but it seems fun. My name is Felicia, I'm 22 years old and from Denmark, and I go to the university, so most of what I read is university-minded - but I study theatre, so it's still very interesting.Hello to all!
