Amara Tanith (aftanith) Is this it? If so, you didn't do anything wrong. :) I've add the cover, and if you can provide the ASIN--I've just double-checked, and it does indeed have one--it would be much appreciated. (Otherwise your Amazon buy link won't work properly.)

message 3: by Shannon (new)

Shannon McRoberts (shannonmcroberts) Yes, that is my book.
ASIN: B008HJO5X4 is what the Amazon.com page has for me. If that isn't it let me know. Thank you so much for your help!

message 4: by Amara (last edited Aug 01, 2012 03:22PM) (new)

Amara Tanith (aftanith) Yep, that's the number we need. :) I've added it to the record, so it's all set.

Jessie Tyson (jessiebtyson) | 14 comments Hello, I am a long term member of Goodreads but I've just been sitting in the background reading and not learning much about the site. I've just joined this group about half an hour ago because I am soooo stuck.

Help! I am trying to add myself as a new Goodreads author and my own debut novel. I think I've made a huge mistake somewhere because there is no book cover uploaded (and I did) and now it asks do I want to add it to my shelf of my books to read..arg.

This is the info mostly from Amazon:

Separated by Death, Reunited by Fate…

In the year 1899, in Whitehaven, Cumbria, UK, Lady Constance Witherspoon, only 14 years of age, gives birth to twin girls during a tumultuous storm. Lady Elisa (Beth) is born with a diagnosis of demonic possession, while her twin, Lady Sarah, is crushed and killed when the ceiling collapses in the storm.

In the year 2000, Sally Witherspane returns home to Whitehaven and is haunted by relentless nightmares about demons and a baby crushed at birth. To discover the meaning of these dreams, she seeks the help of the local psychic, who instructs Sally to attend a past life meeting. It is there that Sally meets Beth Witherspoon.

Persuaded by a ghostly blue apparition, Sally documents a family history filled with deception, abuse and an ancient evil, and she must summon strength and faith to become the woman she is destined to be, one of the last descendants of the White Heaven Women.

Editorial reviews:

"Jessie Tyson evokes the sights, smells, accents and atmosphere of early 20th century northern England to give us a tale of re-incarnation that marches past even our present times; a novel of hope and of the multiple chances that re-incarnation provides the soul in search of enlightenment." —Shane Joseph, author of The Ulysses Man

"A terrifying tale of reincarnation, demons and protective blue ghosts. Debut author Jessie B. Tyson paints a literary landscape of bygone days so skillfully the main characters leap off the pages into our hearts." —Betty Dravis, best-selling co-author of Six-Pack of Blood

"Jessie has written a fast paced book with vivid characters. The sense of place is thoroughly described and puts the reader firmly in the scene—I could imagine everything clearly. Her main character is likeable and you will find yourself wanting to know what happens next. A great book to get lost in on a rainy day." —Dionne Lister, author of Shadows of the Realm

"Nobody knows how to entwine a novel together better than Jessie B. Tyson, as she draws us into a life with Beth, a young lady who seems to have the most complicated life and survival. Beth's path is paved with horror, suspense, paranormal, life, death, love and hate all woven together with such powerfulness, so real, so fragile, yet gripping enough to keep you on the edge to know more. I fell in love with Beth and her sharp mind, fragile body, and her warm heart, and you will too." —Peggy Grigowski, author of A Glimpse of What If

Amara Tanith (aftanith) If you can link us to the cover image at a non-bookseller site or upload a copy of it (not taken from a bookseller site) as one of your profile photos, a librarian can add it to the book for you.

You can claim your author profile here.

As for ASIN B008SDDGV6, we'll need to add that as another edition of the book. If you can provide the details requested here, we can add the book for you. Otherwise, you can add it to the system yourself, then let us know so that we can combine the two editions.

Jessie Tyson (jessiebtyson) | 14 comments Hi Amara. Thank you for trying to help me. I thought I had input all the info the site needs. It is posted above in this thread. I will add the front page to my pictures before I begin. Then I shall attempt to add my book again and let you know what happens. Bless you :)

message 9: by Amara (last edited Aug 06, 2012 10:42PM) (new)

Amara Tanith (aftanith) Jessie, ISBN 9781926997704 is right here. You will not be able to that ISBN again. It just needs the cover, which you can add yourself once you've claimed your author profile or we can do right now if you can supply us with the image.

As for the information you supplied above, does that correspond to both ISBN 9781926997704 and ASIN B008SDDGV6? If you can confirm that it does, someone can add ASIN B008SDDGV6 to the system for you (unless you want to do it).

Jessie Tyson (jessiebtyson) | 14 comments I have just uploaded the front cover. I hope I claimed my author profile correctly. I didn't know what to write there...just my name? Book title? sighs..so I added both

message 11: by Amara (last edited Aug 06, 2012 10:51PM) (new)

Amara Tanith (aftanith) Your application to claim the profile will be processed within two to three business days.

I've added the book cover to ISBN 9781926997704, and I'll work on adding ASIN B008SDDGV6 now I see you've added the Kindle edition; I've combined it with the ebook edition.

Jessie Tyson (jessiebtyson) | 14 comments Just tried to add the ASIN and it asks for a new name..arg

You successfully added that ASIN to the system (see here) approximately two minutes ago.

Jessie Tyson (jessiebtyson) | 14 comments Oh, two to three days. I thought it would have been almost instant. Ho hum. What information was I supposed to add to the requested author profile? If its not what I want can I edit it? This is so confusing for me.

Amara Tanith (aftanith) JESSIE B. wrote: "What information was I supposed to add to the requested author profile?"

I honestly have no answer for that one. I've never had to fill out that application. ;) But I do know that if they need any more information while they're attending to your application, they'll contact you.

Jessie Tyson (jessiebtyson) | 14 comments Oh oh. I think a light bulb has just been lit. The author profile on Goodreads is different from a readers profile. Is this correct? So the way I am thinking, I have two profiles on Goodreads now? yes no?

Yes. But when your request is approved, they will be merged into a single Goodreads Author profile.

message 18: by Jessie (new)

Jessie Tyson (jessiebtyson) | 14 comments Oh darn. I clicked the Amazon.ca link as if I was a buyer and it doest recognise 9781926997704..arg. This can only happen to me..lol. You see, the paperback version doesnt come out until 30th Aug. So perhaps the ISBN should be removed until then?

message 19: by Amara (new)

Amara Tanith (aftanith) I've updated that record to reflect that it'll be out on the thirtieth. There's no need to remove the ISBN.

message 20: by Jessie (new)

Jessie Tyson (jessiebtyson) | 14 comments Oh dear. It will be out as a paperback on the 30 th August not 13th.

It was released today as an e-book (Kindle edition.)

Jessie, as you can see here, the two editions now have the correct release dates. 8/7 for the Kindle, and 8/30 for the paperback.

Jessie Tyson (jessiebtyson) | 14 comments Yes, thank you, Lafon and Rivka. Amara is helping me. I am new here and posted it in the thread instead of a new post...durr.

message 24: by Jessie (new)

Jessie Tyson (jessiebtyson) | 14 comments Oh dear, Rivka and Lafron. I just pretended to be a buyer once again and it still pops up saying no such book with that ISBN. Drat. And today was the release day of my ebook Kindle edition. 30 th Aug for paperback.

Perhaps it will all work itself out when Amara returns.

I'd like to thank everyone for trying to help me. Bless you

What store is selling the ISBN edition? You have to use the link that sells that ISBN. Also the store that is selling it may not yet have it listed. (On a side note the Kindle edition shows up when I click the Amazon link.)
ETA: Yup it doesn't look like anyone has the ISBN listed yet. A google search for that ISBN returns nothing.

message 26: by Jessie (new)

Jessie Tyson (jessiebtyson) | 14 comments Say what??? Each store has a different ISBN, you say? Oh my goodness. I thought a store that was given the ISBN could just buy it in? I guess I'm clueless of how it works. Show you how new and daft I am eh..lol.

Glad the Kindle shows up for you. :) What happens if you pretending to buy it from, lets say Amazon?

No, each store doesn't necessarily have a different ISBN, but you have to choose a link that has the book. Say you have in that dropdown Smashwords as a link. If Smashwords doesn't have that ISBN you're not going to find it there. And Kindle editions can only be bought from Amazon. The ASIN that they provide is exclusive to them. If it was an eBook, sold elsewhere it would have an ISBN (or an ISBN equivalent, like B&N's pseudo ISBN that starts with 294). As far as I can tell the bookseller that is going to sell the paperback edition doesn't have it listed yet (although if you use the Amazon link for the paperback it shows you in their search the Kindle edition). All in all there isn't much you can do in regard to those links aside from making sure all the data is correct, because those links are user customizable.
