Kimberly Nope! It is a human book, not a kiddy book. Read it!! It will only take a few hours.

Michelle Boy with facial deformities, finally gets to go to school. He had been home schooled up until now, because of all his surgeries. It's a story about the family, the kids in school, and the boy deals with all of it. It's very well written. It's a great read, took me like 4 hours...Please read, especially if you work in a school. ;-)

Ragini this is an awesome book, definitely lots of things to learn from it for everyone. Please take the time to read it, it will be worth it!!

Bere Rosales Its a beautiful book. Read it, probably as good as any of your romance novels

Donna It is about how society perceives someone who is different. It is about how love, understanding and kindness can make all the difference. It is a beautiful book. I work in a school unit for vulnerable kids. I am definitely going to teach this book if only to teach my pupils that bravery and kindness are two of the most important qualities a human being can possess.

☮Karen It is a YA book, but an important read for not just the young. The message is loud and clear -- treat others with kindness and then more kindness. Little August was born with a facial deformity that shocks first-time acquaintances, and it is decided to home school him until the age of 10. Then he starts attending a prep middle school and forced to deal with the the cruelties of society. How he and his family, the school, and friends deal with it all is admirable. A very simple yet well-written first offering from Palacio.

Kelley Heart warming book with a message the world could use more of - Choose Kindness.

Susan Loved this book! As an elementary school teacher, I often witness social interactions with children who are "different". I have to tell you , for the most part . we are in good hands for our future. I witness more compassion and understanding amongst our young people than I see in most adults. Whatever we, as a society, are doing to help our children become more accepting and befriending of those that seem different, it is working! So proud of our youth!
