Brilliant :) Of course they haven't... I must admit, I embraced this sort of thread when Something Nice was first published, but I've kind of seen the error of my ways and am deleting my old entries in this sort of thing whenever I see them. It's not wrong as such, I don't think, but it's not entirely honest.

Entirely dishonest, I would say, unless you have read and truly liked the work in question. I would appreciate such things from readers who had enjoyed my work, and if you know the person a gentle reminder of how helpful it could be would not be amiss, but blanket bombing like this is distasteful IMHO.

I can see why people do it, so I can't condemn it in such strong terms, but I do pretty much agree with you.

What I would say, though, is that I don't really think that liking reviews, tags, and book pages and things actually does any good in terms of sales.

So while that makes this kind of thread pointless, from my point of view I can't condemn it because I don't think it has any effect.
