The Warcraft story isn't as exciting as it should be, however we both have played enough that I wish it was more interesting.

I am an old warcraft player form the other end of the spectrum (RTS, not MMO). I have read a few books and they have been hit or miss kind of mostly. Just today I finished "The Sunwell Triology" from Warcraft.

My name is Ronny, and I'm a life-long lover of SFF. I'm a Goodreads author as well (pseudonym listed: B.E. Priest), but don't worry! Other than my book's single thread, I plan on having normal-people discussions and not spitting promotions everywhere.
Cheers!
Ronny

My favorite authors are:
Scott Lynch
Brandon Sanderson
Robert Jordan (RIP)
Glen Cook
E.R. Burroughs
Joe Abercrombie
I'm sure I'm forgetting more, but let it be known that the darker it is, the better! Any recommendations, PM me and let me know what books you think I should be reading.

Heh, I guess I am. You're over here too, huh? What's your favorite fantasy book?

There are a "bunch" but I'd say The Deed of Paksenarrion is very close.

One that I really liked was by David Weber, a series called the War God.
Oath of Swords is one of them, and there are a few more.

The Riyria Chronicles by Sullivan is good.
Seems to me you mentioned you like darker fantasy. I tend to like "heroic fantasy". Waylander is a bit of both. There are 3 books about the character though they aren't strictly a series as they are stand alone novels.

I have Theft of Swords in my list of to-reads, or more accurately to listen to on audiobook. A friend of mine is a huge fan of his.

I'm Brian D. Anderson, author of The Godling Chronicles series and life long sci-fi/fantasy lover.

I recently discovered the Brent Weeks' "Night Angel" series. I'd have to say it's my favorite series at this moment in time, but I will always have a soft spot for Lord of the Rings and anything by Terry Brooks.

I'm Mike and I'm a Sanderson-aholic.
I am a big fan of space operas and epic fantasies but enjoy most sci-fi and fantasy genres as long as they are well written and internally consistent.
I was raised on Xanth (since outgrown) and golden age sci-fi writers (love them to death but they couldn't write female characters to save their lives).
I am always looking for a good discussion about books with folks who are passionate about them.

First things first: I'm fairly new to goodreads (been here a few weeks), so needless to say I have no idea what I'm doing! :)
I have not got around to add all the books I've read previous to joining so my bookshelf is very incomplete at the moment...
I'm from Norway, but I have also lived in England and Denmark not long ago. Just recently moved back home.
I had a bit of a slow few years when it comes to reading until about a year ago when I got my Kindle which kind of kick-started my interest in books again :)
goodreads has also had a positive impact on my reading as I'm now able to find lots and lots of books that seem interesting! (in fact there are now too many and I struggle to settle on which one to read next! Luxury problem!)
My favorite genres are fantasy, scifi and horror. Although I will read other stuff if recommended by people I trust :)
Not going to list fav authors as there are too many and I would be annoyed if I forgot anyone! Hehe :)
I'll just end here I think, looking forward to being a member of this group as it sounds like a good one and perfect for my tastes!

:)"
Hello!
I thought I'd seen your name before! :)
Thank you!

Hopefully goodreads will add more to that list.

My name is Paul and i'm from Brighton on the South coast of the UK. I was born in the 70's and grew up in a tiny village in Sussex, with little to do but read (when not adventuring in the oograh).
Someone gave me David Eddings' Belgariad series when i was twelve, and i instantly fell in love with it, moving on to Raymond Feist and then discovering Heinlein and Asimov.
I'm also an author, usually of crime (being an ex-copper) but more recently of Sci-fi which is strangely doing better than the crime!
My favourite authors are:
Brandon Sanderson
David Gemmell
Chris Bunch
Joe Haldeman
Mick Farren
Richard Morgan
Terry Pratchett
Hugh Howey
And about two dozen more!
I'm really looking forward to getting to know you all and getting involved in some interesting discussions :)

But I'm more excited to be a part of a community like this instead, and just read and informally chat. Dr. Moreau is queued up, and I SHOULD be finally finishing Clash of Kings tonight so I can start on it tomorrow. But I also picked up my next 3 books after that from the library today. Books are going to fly by after reading one of Martin's behemoths.

My name is Brian Burke and I am a fantasy writer. Just stopping by to say hello and I'm looking forward to meeting you.

Ash - Give the "Warlock" series by Christopher Stasheff a try. SF, but everybody on the planet thinks there is magic because there are fairies and leprechauns and whatnot running around the countryside.

My name's Brian. I'm 33 years old. I am from Ireland and, during the day, I work in a medical factory.
I've been writing for about 15 years, on and off. Mostly fantasy.
I love the work of Stoker, Tolkien, Hill, Thompson, King, and Lewis.
I haven't been able to read much lately but I hope to remedy that. That's why I signed up to this site. So far I'm loving what it has to offer.
Looking forward to meeting some interesting readers/authors here too. Feel free to add me to your friend's list.
All the best,
Brian.

Welcome again! :)

Sounds like you enjoy specultive sci-fi: I would try
China Miéville The City and the City would be a good start. John Scalzi starting with Old Man's War I would try too.
Flipping though your book list you also like Miltary stuff. I would give David Weber another shot this time with either The Honor of the Queen or Off Armageddon Reef

It wasn't even that many posts ago..sheesh. ^_^ "
You know when you're searching for your glasses and they're on your face? Ja, this was like that, only worse cause I could have just used the find function. I'm not braining good today :P Welcome Carrie :)
