I'm Natasha and I've loved reading for as long as I remember, and have loved writing for about a decade now. I'm studying to become a Trilingual Secretary (although I speak four languages: English, Dutch, German, and French), and intend to continue on to Linguist.
My first book, A Glimpse of The Dark, was released two weeks ago and the first draft of my first novel (the first in a four-part series) is almost finished. Writing is my passion even more so than languages and there's nothing better than locking myself in my room to write, or curling up with a good book.

I'm Charles, I live in Athens, Ohio with my wife and 2 sons. I enjoy a large array of science fiction. You name it, I've read it or I'm willing to read it. I hope I get a chance to talk to many of you.

Hi Charles - I published two science fictions novels in 2011 that you might enjoy. Would you be interested in reading and reviewing them?
"Wednesday's Child" is about a man who inexplicably begins living Thursdays before Wednesdays. When a nuclear terrorist threat arises, he realizes he might be able to use his new perspective to avert a disaster. "The Portal" is about a dysfunctional future for America. A hundred years from now a young boy is growing up in a country on the brink of economic collapse. When his first love disappears, in addition to having to survive as things crumble around him, he sets out on an endless quest to find her again.
You can find these books and sample chapters on my author page, or on my website, http://mysite.verizon.net/alan.zendell/, where I've also posted all my published reviews. If you're interested I'll be happy to make review copies available to you.
Thanks everyone for the warm welcome.

Welcome Jim, it's a pleasure to at last meet a mere mortal like myself (25 books read this year) for once in this great group, where everyone else seems able to read epic tomes in their sleep.
Enjoy the fun here.

Hey Jordan! Welcome.
The Myth Adventure books are a lot of fun. Did you know there are a lot of Myth Adventure graphic novels as well?
If you like the humor, you might want to check out a couple other books.
Callahan's Crosstime Saloon by Spider Robinson. There are a ton of books in the collection and they are a fun read.
And I suddenly can't think of the other author with a similar collection.
Oh well. Welcome and have fun.

I joined this group a few months ago but never got around to introducing myself. I live in Texas and teach middle school science. I'm an avid reader and I've been a SciFi and Fantasy fan since I was a teenager but had gotten away from the genre the last several years. I got a Kindle two years ago and I'm not sure why but that brought me back into the fold. I love the humor of the comments in this group!

A teacher! One of the best kinds of people! Welcome!

(There was an episode of the TV program The Odd Couple where Felix and Oscar went to a monastery and they could not take any books. Oscar couldn’t fall asleep without reading, so he read the back of a toothpaste tube. That’s me. I’ll read anything.)
As far as writing: I’ve written a couple books. My latest is a middle-reader fantasy.
I’m looking forward to participating in the group.

Ideas define us, our past, our present, and most importantly, our future.

When I was younger, I used to be really into sci-fi and not so much fantasy, but now it's kind of the opposite.

My current (3rd generation) library is approaching 2900 volumes of both SF, adventure, & mystery. I say 3rd gen since I have sold off two previous libraries (about 3000 each) in the past.
I'm NOT giving up paper, but I have acquired a Kindle a few months ago and have about 40 books on it at the moment.
I'm also an SF TV fan (even though some of it is juvenile or worse) and keep hoping to see a movie by a Hollywood writer that has actually read & understands science fiction.

I'm married with no children besides our 3 cats. I read a lot, usually one or two novels a week, most of those are in the sci-fi, fantasy, and/or mystery genres. Looking forward to discussing new reads with everyone.

Hello Chris. Nice to meet you.
Hello Chris. Nice to meet you.

My name is Mike and I just joined GR a few days ago - still learning my way around. I'm a big SF/F fan who doesn't get nearly enough time to read all the books I've gotten. I'm a computer programmer living outside of Philadelphia with my four cats.
My mom tells a story of my first day of school. I came home and announced that I wasn't going back. She asked "Why?" and I replied "You said they would teach me to read, and they didn't!"

Welcome boomer! Technically I'm a war-baby, just missing being a boomer. I too grew up one Tom Swift and Tom Swift Jr. Did you read the Tom Corbett Space Cadet series? I still have my copies with dust jackets. I'll read one now and then for some easy reminiscences. WHat comics did you like?

What about Joss Whedon and "Serenity" (movie) and "Firefly (one season tv series)?" And "Dr Horrible's Sing Along Blog" also by Whedon.

I'm not one realy active member I use the good reads mostly for keep my reading recorded, as my memory don't seems to work properly.... :p
I've read almost every thing, classic greeks to Annie Rice (ok ok I was dating a girl who liked it.. it's not my fault... I can read any crap)
But I like SF (Hard SF if possible, I've a Physics background, mostly Willian Gibson, Asimov, Athur C. Clarke, Jack Vance....) fantasy (I like Tolkien, Peter S. Beagle, Gaiman, Prattchet...)and I Love Sheakespeare.
I'm Brazilian. Realy recomend Alvarez de Azevedo. DON'T READ "Paulo Coelho" or "Jo Soares".
