Aloha | 51 comments Hi, Kris. I'm in, too. Haven't cracked it, though. I'm finishing up my August commitments.

I'm so glad you're here, Aloha! And I've started reading early - most members are waiting for September to start reading, so there's plenty of time.

Aloha | 51 comments Thank you, Kris. I thought I better pop in earlier since I missed the Savage Detectives happening.

I just saw your posts there. I'll post some replies once I get my head back into TSD space. I know that some members are still reading, so we may be able to get a flurry of activity there.

Aloha | 51 comments I'm writing my review on TSD, but got hung up on analysis, when I had an emotional reaction to the book. The analytical brain always takes over when I'm analyzing something. Duh! LOL.

My head will probably be on TMM, anyway, since I just started it. Too bad I can't focus on two books at once.

That makes perfect sense to me! :)

Aloha | 51 comments Hmmm. If this isn't starting until September, I better go back and review the science book that's I'm participating in the discussion for August, and lay that to rest. Geesh, this is all getting so confusing. LOL.

Mark (markmckeejr) | 37 comments Oh heck yeah! I thought this was starting Monday, but I have another week to finish the last two passages in Savage Detectives, woohoo!

message 109: by Aloha (new) - rated it 5 stars

Aloha | 51 comments I'm trying to wrap up my review. I'm seeing more and more stuff in the book, or was it something I ate?

message 110: by Mary (new) - rated it 5 stars

Mary I will probably be cracking this open early next week :)

Madeleine (titular_line) | 14 comments M&M maaaaaay have influenced my decision to take off the first week of September. "Vacation? Pssshaw. I've got reading to do, Job!"

Yay Mary. I can't wait to hear what you think of it. I think I'll be starting P&V next week.

I'd vote that it's a sign of a good and thoughtful reader....

Mark (markmckeejr) | 37 comments It was that second read through what dunnit to ye, Thoa!

I wouldn't be lyin if I said answered "Yay," Kris! (But truth be told, I never thought it would actually work!)

message 119: by Aloha (new) - rated it 5 stars

Aloha | 51 comments I'm glad I did the 2nd read of TSD. Really good books need you to look closely at it to get the whole thing. Can't be a lazy reader.

message 120: by Aloha (new) - rated it 5 stars

Aloha | 51 comments I don't know if it's a pitiful geek thing. But after my divorce, I dated. When I saw that I have no problems getting dates, then I don't want to date, but would rather read, learn, do art, and write. I feel happier. I'm holding out for quality instead of quantity. I have lots to do for myself meanwhile.

That doesn't seem pitiful or geeky - it seems smart and fulfilling.

Judith (jloucks) You're an enthusiastic group, I see! Great!

I'm not a regular group reader either, but I did take up your challenge and started the novel this week. I'm at about page 150 and thoroughly enjoying it! No music, drinks or other accompaniments needed so far!

BTW, we do have a folder with discussion threads organized by chapters in TM&M. If you don't see it on the main group page, go to the bar entitled Discussion Board (under the Currently Reading section) and click on the topics link on the far right that says All. You should then see all the group folders and threads.

Sometimes they are hidden due to thread inactivity. That is really frustrating because then people don't realize it's there. I moderate a group and I've fixed it there, Kris, and here's how:

Go to your group settings. At the very bottom should be a "click for advanced options" link. I think it defaults to something stupid. I do "24 folders, 7 topics, 365 days before inactivity" because I am corny. But I think the most important thing is that inactivity number (third value).

And I just fixed the settings in IJ too. :)

Jennifer (formerly Eccentric Muse) | 2 comments Hello, all! This looks like a fun group of smart and thoughtful readers - and an intriguing book. I am another who reads slowly and generally sucks at group reads. But, fortified with margaritas (or black russians?) and musical accompaniment, I'm in!

Hi Jennifer! I'm so glad you're joining us. Margaritas, music, good discussions - hopefully we can turn around your group read experiences.
