Jenny, I can probably get to Obsidian (Lux, #1) by Jennifer L. Armentrout in the next day or two. Jen, Steelheart (Reckoners, #1) by Brandon Sanderson when? Jenny, David, anyone else?

I'm considering it, but I might not be able to join the buddy read in time :( I've been neglecting Brew but now I have all my beta feedback so I've got to get to work!

message 657: by Jen (new)

Jen (jenwesner) | 1222 comments I really want to get to Never Fade (The Darkest Minds, #2) by Alexandra Bracken , but I'd be willing to wait if you want to do Steelheart (Reckoners, #1) by Brandon Sanderson first.

Karen, I cannot believe you're reading Obsidian (Lux, #1) by Jennifer L. Armentrout .But hey, if you're going to jump into contemporary you might as well throw an alien in there for good measure! LOL! I am dying to hear what you think of it. I'm on the fence about Jennifer Armentrout, even though I do love that particular series. If you're listening to Obsidian, I can tell you right now that Justine Eyre totally ruined the first book for me. I read them in print and liked them much, much better. I just couldn't take the whine in her voice.

I was just there - again with my iphone (what is the deal?) which is hopefully now fixed, again - this past Sunday. There's an Anthropologie! Yes please! I got the cutest little sundress there for $10. Of all places, and of course I wanted to buy everything so it's a good thing I didn't even go into West Elm or Crate and Barrel. (lol) I loved the food court, so many healthy choices. You're right, it has changed a lot, and for the better! Unfortunately for us, though, Barnes and Noble is across the street and not actually in the mall. Driving to the next parking lot over is just so difficult. First world problem. : )

I will join in Steelheart--I just got it from the library! Yes, I finally broke down and went to the library the other day!

Sounds great for Obisidian, too!

Karen should we say Friday for Obsidian? And when should we start Steelheart everyone?

message 663: by Karen’s Library (new)

Karen’s Library | 11320 comments Mod
Friday works! I should be done with Will Grayson, Will Grayson by John Green tonight.

And Jen, I don't think I knew Obsidian (Lux, #1) by Jennifer L. Armentrout was a contemporary. Ha! 2 in a row! I'll increase my comparative %'s with both of you at this rate.

Jenny (juliababyjen) | 12932 comments Mod
Obsidian is a contemporary with a sci-fi twist. I don't know alot about it, except its addictive. I bought Origin (Lux, #4) by Jennifer L. Armentrout today. I have all the rest as ebooks.

I'm tempted to jump in and join you, since I've just had my heart completely and utterly broken by Gayle Forman in Just One Day (did this woman to go the Lauren Oliver school of how to write an ending?). I need a happy ending. I've read the whole Lux series and thoroughly enjoyed it. Maybe I should join you, since I know where each book goes from here - don't be surprised if I jump in. : )

I couldn't wait any longer (I know, I'm a terrible terrible cheater!) but I just started UnSouled (Unwind, #3) by Neal Shusterman and set up a buddy read thread :)

No pressure to start reading it immediately (unless you really want to lol), but I'll start posting my thoughts with spoilers as I go!

We were still planning on doing a buddy read for Steelheart (Reckoners, #1) by Brandon Sanderson ?

message 675: by Karen’s Library (new)

Karen’s Library | 11320 comments Mod
Yes. I'm reading the Divergent trilogy this weekend. I decided I needed to read the first 2 books before starting Allegiant. I'm going to marathon read this weekend. I have no other plans and don't have to work.

You guys can start though and I'll catch up. ;-)

Jen (jenwesner) | 1222 comments Hey I just got Arclight (Arclight, #1) by Josin L. McQuein - apparently it's dystopia/scifi/horror. Anyone up for buddy reading it before Halloween gets here? Maybe late next week after Steelheart (Reckoners, #1) by Brandon Sanderson ?

Jen (jenwesner) | 1222 comments I'm in -- maybe. I'm still working through Divergent/Insurgent/Allegiant right now. Then I think I want to do Prodigy just to refresh - then I'll be ready for Champion. And can I just say I CANNOT WAIT!!!!! Honestly, for me . . . forget Allegiant! I've been waiting for Champion!

Yup I'm officially jealous of you this time, David! I would love being there! So happy you guys are having a great time :)

Has anyone watched the movie, Couples Retreat? I love that movie, and I was watching it again the other day. Its about 4 couples that are best friends that go to this amazing resort on some island that's all about helping couples reconnect because one of the couples are contemplating getting a divorce. The other 3 couples just want the vacation part of it, but they get there and find out they all have to go to couples counseling at 6 am every morning, and the 3 other couples want to bail. My reaction? I'll sit in counseling for 3 hours every day if I get to stay in paradise!!! Who cares? lol

OMG Couples Retreat is HYSTERICAL! Love that movies :)

I know, right? I watched it twice in the movie theaters! The first time with my girlfriends (we laughed SO hard!) and the second time with Darryl. I dragged him to it cuz I knew he'd love it. I was right! Then I had to buy it when it came out on DVD! I have no idea how many times I've watched it, but I still laugh every time!

Awww, we will still be here!

message 698: by Paige (last edited Nov 09, 2013 04:36AM) (new)

Paige Yin (paigeyin) | 38 comments I have a few books in mind that I feel like reading, and after a round or two joining others on buddy read, I am kind of thinking, hmm.. why not getting into it? ^.^

So the few choices I have are:
Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell Delirium (Delirium, #1) by Lauren Oliver Pivot Point (Pivot Point, #1) by Kasie West

In Dec I might practically have plenty of time reading, but Nov generally I am going to be a bit slow - till end of the month I will be fast on reading again. If anyone is interested, let me know. ^.^

message 699: by Jenny, Always smiling! :-D (new)

Jenny (juliababyjen) | 12932 comments Mod
I have read all three of those already, Paige, so I will join in with the discussion! I know several people in the group just bought Eleanor & Park, so a buddy read of that sounds like a good idea!

Karen, I am ready for Onyx (Lux, #2) by Jennifer L. Armentrout after this weekend!

Sounds good. I'm rereading Legend (Legend, #1) by Marie Lu and Prodigy (Legend, #2) by Marie Lu and then starting Champion (Legend, #3) by Marie Lu . I should be ready in a few days.

Champion seems like a can't put down book!
