Vampire Knight\ Twilight ?

I mean, I do see the twilight similarity here. But it's pretty much that it's a love triangle and there are vampires in it. That stuff was being written way before Twilight. After those two very basic things, I don't relate it to Twilight at all. It's much darker and more mysterious, as I prefer my vampire stories.

What do you guys think?

Yeah, The fact that there are vampires. but i think that's where the simalarity ends.

Vampire Knight and Twilight is two different styles. I just think that Vampire Knight is more-more-more lovely, VK dont really into to the relationship but the conflict. My heart just trembling affected when read VK.

the only thing similar in the stories is the use of vampires. twilight is simple and times silly (glittering vampires! seriously!) and vampire knight is dark and complex and so many other things. the characters of kaname, zero and yukki have actual depth in them. they are not shallow like the other group.

I think that the biggest similarity between the two series is that the main female protagonist is something of an observer and her main motivation in the plot is to be fought over by two guys rather than to develop a strong personality of her own.

The approaches of Meyer and Hino, though are fundamentally different. (leaving aside the fact that meyer can't write prose or structure a story whereas Hino's artwork is often sublime and the storybeats perfectly paced in Vampire Knight) Meyer uses the Vampire myth to promote a cautionary, contradictory tale about romantically obsessing about boys, allowing them to protect you but to be chaste and good with it. Hino's story is anything but cautionary or obsessive, and involves a lot of sexual abandonment and pleasure pursuit ... like all Vampire literature it both recognises the allure and the danger of these things. Kaname and Zero are both attractive and dangerous figures, whilst promising Yuuki protection as well ... though as a reader I doubt that she's going to find it and I think she doubts that as well (I'm up to V7 so far). Yuuki's certainly not punished for metaphorically having sex with Zero, it's seen as something passionate, exciting and potentially rewarding. It couldn't be farther from Meyer in that respect.
