You always have interpretations of what an author SAYS and what they MEAN. So... I'm starting this thread to get your opinions.

Take a quote/line/caption from any book/etc and post it here. Include YOUR impression of what the author means, and then what you THINK the author probably REALLY meant! LOL

The 'deeper meaning' was a phrase I cringed to hear in school. It was a guaranteed journey into the absurd. Sometimes it started out sensibly, but most teachers just seemed to take it way too far, as your picture points out so well.

Jill James (jill_james) | 19 comments I had a teacher with the whole "deeper meaning" carp. She drove me nuts. Sometimes a rock is just a rock.

Faith Marlow | 68 comments I love the idea of this thread. Sometimes the curtains are just blue. I just finished reading and watching "The Grey". Wonderful Liam Neeson action film, bareknuckle boxing some freakishly large wolves. It ended too quick so I had to have the book as soon as I found out there was one. I read it quick, stumbling over the sometimes difficult writing style, but loving the pace. What didn't I love? How the conflict between the Ottway and the wolves is symbolic of the jacked up relationship he had with his father!

The Grey by Ian Mackenzie Jeffers

I still liked the book, although in this case, I liked the movie better. Bookie Blasphemy, I know but sometimes the curtains are blue for the sake of being blue and the wolves need to stay wolves!
