This book blows on every level, just wanna know if I'm the only sane person on the planet or if other people agree.
Edit:
Seems hate is too strong a word, everyone's panties are getting in a wad.

I absolutely loved it! Plus, one of the signs of a good book is when it starts a discussion... :)
I enjoyed some aspects of the book, such as the universe that was created, the planets and hosts used - there was a beautiful message, though not original, it still was nice. The entire love triangle got to be a little tiring.
What ruined it for me however was the ending, I found that the ending Meyers was leading up to was fantastic - it was selfless. Then the character went against Wanda's wishes, they were selfish which was what she didn't like/want to be.
Meyers completely betrayed her main character's morals simply for an ending that was pretty much tied up in a nice little package

I thought I'd like this book concerning I'm a sci-fi freak. I've read Dune, Stranger in a Strange Land and others like that. This book is like a sci-fi for people who have no idea what that genre really is.
First off: The world names are horrible and mock anything that science fiction is. Everything about the world was unbelievable and had nothing going for it. It was horribly cliche to the point I wanted to choke, and the main character was a whiny excuse for a person. I don't care if the food taste bad, eat it anyways. It might be your last meal.
So yeah it made me mad, because all the rave yet again led me into a pit of disgust. I'm tired of people saying that it's very thought out and that it's too philosophical for some people to handle. Please...go read Dune. That's a mind fuck (sorry for the language) on the head. Not harshing on anyone who's read it. I can see why people might like it, but I for one wanted to rip it down the spine.

i haven't read it yet. but the story seems interesting..should i read it? or its just going to be a waste of my time??{sorry! i know its not the right place to ask this question but..i would appreciate it if anyone answered ^_^}
This book does not make my favorites list at all. I found the book to be very slow and with absolutely nothing to keep the reader wanting for more. It had so many unanswered questions which are the basics for any book. (Who? What? Where? When? and Why?) I finished the book because my rule is once I start a book I finish it. Now get this, it's going to be a movie. That's right.
It took me awhile, but I'm a fan too. I was disappointed when I was reading it, but I remember every part of it... Cant say that for lots of books that I have on my favorite list.
Just a couple of thoughts:
To start of you should know that I read about half of the first Twilight book. I can't stand Bella so I didn't finish it. It seemed silly to even try but it was Bella that was the issue.
Thoughts:
1. I really enjoyed the Host. I thought it was a unique perspective on the whole body snatching thing.
2. It was very philosophical which I feel is part of the reason people have trouble with it.
3. The majority of the book takes place in Wanda/Melanie's head which is another reason it could come across as "boring" or "slow" or "dull". It's very much MIND-centric.
4. Its much more adult than the Twilight books. It's not meant to be YA (I don't know what age bracket anyone is in but i thought it needed to be said).

I didn't enjoy this book and it isn't that my "mind obviously cannot handle" it, it was simply that it dragged much longer than it really needed to and I don't paticularly enjoy her writing style. I reread the Twilight series and while they have a good basic storyline, the quality of the writing really just isn't there, you just don't notice it on the first read.
I agree, couldn't finish it. Although I never read and am not interested in the Twilight stuff, so probably wasn't a good choice for me anyway.
I didn't hate it. I was actually surprised I read it. Although Meyer's style seems to be targeted only to one particular audience (yuup, that's right) I was surprised at all the philosophical undertones the seemingly cheesy conversations carry. It's true, the books is cheesy and even dull at times, but I thought it made some strong points.
HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!
in the beginning, it was okayish...
I kept reading until I got to the middleish...
Then immediatley regretted it. I was sooooo boring and repetative!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have since figured out, after attempting to read twilight, that I just overall hate the way that Stephanie Myers writes!!!!! I am a total hater!!!!!!!!!!!

Why do people create such topics? It just creates drama an I really think the people who created these topics actually like the drama that it creates.

NOTA
PARA "ODIAR" EL LIBRO, ES NECESARIO QUE EXISTA UNA IDEA NEGATIVA PREDETERMINADA SOBRE EL. SI NO TE GUSTÓ EL LIBRO, SÓLO DI "NO ME GUSTÓ"
---
English
The beginning of the book is quite heavy, but the after development is pretty good. The story is much more mature and complex than any of the Twilight series that the author wrote.
I submit the sense of "hatred" of some readers to a lack of understanding or entertainment in the first half, but the story is quite complicated and very concise
Definitely "The Host" is the best book I have read by the author, both in creativity and style of writing.
NOTE
TO "HATE" THE BOOK, IT IS NECESSARY TO EXIST A PREDETERMINED NEGATIVE IDEA ABOUT IT. IF YOU DON'T LIKE THE BOOK, DON´T SAY "I HATE IT"

I loved it, which came as a surprise. I didn't like the Twilight books, but since I heard a lot of positive things about The Host, I decided to give it a try. I'm glad I did, and even though it's been a while since I read it, it's still one of my favourite books.
i like this book, but don't shoot me for that ;-D
I didn't hate it. I just didn't like it.
I didn't HATE it, but I struggled with it and eventually gave up
I thought this book was a vast improvement from the Twilight series. It did not seem fake or ridiculous like Twilight.

Oh, please. A sufficiently thought through novel is something that your minds obviously can not handle, thus, your hatred of this book.
