Finished Destroy Me (Shatter Me, #1.5) by Tahereh Mafi , it was okayyyy, got to know Warner, not such a bad guy after all....but not much happened :) I'm considering Unravel Me, did anyone read it yet? Was it good? Better or worse than Shatter Me? Too much "XMen stuff"?

Now reading Light (Gone, #6) by Michael Grant as a buddy read with Karen and Jenny! Everyone's welcome to join:

Unravel Me was twice as good as Shatter Me. There is more of the Xmen stuff, but it all makes better sense. I liked Destroy Me only in that we got into Warner's head, but I still don't like the jerk! lol

I just finished Siege and Storm (The Grisha, #2) by Leigh Bardugo , and I loved it, I think about the same as Shadow and Bone, if not a little better. It was very different from the first book, I think way more intense. The beginning was action packed and lots of fun, the middle was slower, but we got a new character, the prince. The dynamic between him, Mal and Alina was a lot of fun. Then things turned heartbreaking towards the end, and the ending was incredible and crazy insane action!

To be honest, I'm not really sure, David. I think you would probably like it, but it probably will depend on your mood lol. Some of those YA cliches you don't like are still present, but the story is very gripping. That probably didn't help you at all :) Sorry I'm not much help!

message 4545: by Cindee (new)

Cindee | 331 comments actually David I thought of you when I started it, because the way the characters talk. they live in the projects of London, the author did a great job with keeping with their voices. something's I'm like, what does that mean? lol totally reminds me of you, might be worth a read, I'll let you know as I get deeper in it. so far tho I'm enjoying it, its a series. someone recommended in the September book of the month and I thought it sounded like a cool concept too.

Wait, I'm confused, are we talking about the same book? I was asking about Siege and Storm, the sequel to Shadow and Bone, which was more of a Russian theme, right? Is that the book you're talking about, or something else?

Thanks :) I'm on the fence on this one! The bit I've heard about the middle being somewhat slow and boring scares me because I really struggled through the middle 50% of the first book. But I REALLY LOVED the ending so that's pushing me to read the sequel!

I think she was talking about Numbers, which she mentioned earlier in the thread :)

For Siege and Storm I think you'll like it, the middle of it was better than the middle of Shadow and Bone. The prince character added a lot to the story.
