Geisha, a Life by Mineko Iwasaki Geisha, a Life which I was intrigued by due to my fascination with geishas and the fact that this was Mineko Iwasaki's response to Arthur Golden's Memoirs of a Geisha and is VASTLY different in the background information of the two stories. This book was really good and VERY different from memoirs of a Geisha. It actually makes me wonder how he got that story from the same woman haha. I give it a solid 4 stars.

Still reading. The English Patient by Michael Ondaatje The English Patient with the group read, which is starting to pick up and develop the characters a lot more at about the 1/3 point.

Just started Awoken (The Lucidites, #1) by Sarah Noffke Awoken on my Kindle
and
The Saint (The Original Sinners White Years, #1) by Tiffany Reisz The Saint as my Buddy Pick for Me read.

Last night I also started A Natural History of Dragons (Memoir by Lady Trent, #1) by Marie Brennan A Natural History of Dragons which I have been wanting to read for a few years, and I must say that the intro is delightfully written! Enjoyable to read thus far :)

Started with me wanting to finally see the pilot(yes GASP a die hard gg fan but never seen the whole pilot) strange pilot so different from the other episodes. Taylor doesent appear before ep 6, and in the same episode there is a mayor called Hary Porter(almost harry potter so strange)-

Looks interesting. One of the reviews I read said that it's a rough copy with lots of typographical errors. Eeek. I'm ok with that in a beta-read but not in an ARC or finished product. By that point, it should be mostly edited and most typos fixed. Is it still rough?

message 16525: by Donna (new)

Donna (donanicole) | 897 comments The author says it is a clean copy and I am early in but so far seems to be so. It also has a good story concept.

Glass Sword (Red Queen, #2) by Victoria Aveyard won as March's group read!!

message 16528: by Donna (new)

Donna (donanicole) | 897 comments Yeah, I would recommend. It seems sort of sci-fi with dystopia too, and a female heroine puts it right in my wheelhouse. Some romance along the way too I predict from 10% in. I will return with review when completed.

I am finally about to finish the 5th and last book in this series: The Song of the Jubilee (The Phantom of the Earth, #1) by Raeden Zen The Gambit With Perfection (The Phantom of the Earth, #2) by Raeden Zen The Synthesis and the Animus (The Phantom of the Earth, #3) by Raeden Zen The Descent into the Maelstrom (The Phantom of the Earth, #4) by Raeden Zen The Restoration of Flaws (The Phantom of the Earth, #5) by Raeden Zen

Honestly, I can't say enough good things about this series. It is like a SciFi dystopian version of Game of Thrones. Flawed, complex, interesting characters, incredible worldbuilding, and a cool, unpredictable plotline. Overall, an awesome read. The first book was a lot to take in, and I wasn't sure, but after the second book I was completely hooked!

message 16543: by Heather (new)

Heather (hersecretsmile) | 290 comments I told myself I wasn't going to start another book because I have started and left unfinished a frightening amount of books in the past six months but Front Lines (Soldier Girl, #1) by Michael Grant became available on my online library and I couldn't resist. It is one of my most anticipated books of this year and so far it hasn't disappointed.

Donna (BookDragonGirl) (bookdragongirl) Oda, Opposition is awesome too!!! Just LOVE that series!!!! :)

I finished A Court of Thorns and Roses (A Court of Thorns and Roses, #1) by Sarah J. Maas 4.5 stars. This was an amazing fantasy! I didn't love it quite as much as Throne of Glass, but I did love it! The characters were great, with a rich, detailed world, and some great twists throughout!
