Currently reading:

I think I'm your opposite. I tend to dislike books that a lot of people like. This isn't true across the board, but there's definitely been a lot of popular books that have left me going HUH?

Rose (The_Calm_Reader) (roselittlebookowl75) | 1372 comments Currently reading Ruin and Rising (The Grisha, #3) by Leigh Bardugo , really good so far and excited to finish the series finally. I also started A Game of Thrones (A Song of Ice and Fire, #1) by George R.R. Martin today as a buddy read with a friend. I had started this previously but got distracted haha! Excited to re-enter the world of Winterfell!

I finished Rogue (Talon #2) by Julie Kagawa and I enjoyed it, fun read!

Next I'm reading Erebos by Ursula Poznanski , which was recommended by a friend, and sounds a bit like Ready Player One, but more thriller style. Excited to read it!

Yay Rose! I see you went with GoT!! If you get to A Dance with Dragons (A Song of Ice and Fire, #5) by George R.R. Martin I may join you since I haven't finished that one yet.

Rose (The_Calm_Reader) (roselittlebookowl75) | 1372 comments @karen I was going to choose Outlander but I only have the first two books and one of my IG friends is going to buddy read GoT with me! I'm already 3-4 chapters into GoT and loving it! Going to watch Season 1 along with it! Plus, this gives me more time to collect the Outlander books haha!

Yay. My kids have to read 30 minutes every day for school, but they treat it like a chore. As a book lover and an author, that totally bums me out.

Rose (The_Calm_Reader) (roselittlebookowl75) | 1372 comments @Teresa my daughter, who is 13 and dyslexic, loves to read like me. My son admittedly loves his video games/Xbox more than reading and has never much liked to read.....I feel your pain.

Ugh, what is it with boys and video games? My son is addicted, but my girls could care less about them. A lot of my friends tell me it's the same for them.

Rose (The_Calm_Reader) (roselittlebookowl75) | 1372 comments @Teresa my boy is 18 and has been addicted to his Xbox for a very long time! If that boy could design video games for a living I think he would haha!

You sure they are reading the right books?

You know the saying, there is a book for everyone. I belive that very much, have they discovered harry potter? pjo? both series reluctant readers love. Try audiobooks, many people I know dislike reading but love audiobooks.

I'm still reading The Undead Pool, and have also started reading Lost in the labyrinth of my mind and The Sword of Summer.

Kelly | 75 comments I posted a few times about a year ago and have lurked ever since! I hope to start contributing again. I just completed Slip (Slip, #1) by David Estes which I loved and am now reading Outpost (Razorland, #2) by Ann Aguirre .

Over the holidays, I read What's Left of Me (The Hybrid Chronicles, #1) by Kat Zhang , Rot & Ruin (Rot & Ruin, #1) by Jonathan Maberry , and Wither (The Chemical Garden, #1) by Lauren DeStefano . I loved Rot and Ruin and Wither (pleasantly surprised because of the mixed reviews). I was a little disappointed by What's Left of Me.

Rereading The Stand by Stephen King and started Seveneves by Neal Stephenson . Both are really really good!! I'm going to fall behind on my GRs goal big time. I'll have to find a few novellas to read afterwards to catch up! ;)

Illuminae (The Illuminae Files, #1) by Amie Kaufman

Gahh it took me forever! I liked it, but I didn't love it. The format was interesting, but for the most part I just found it kinda distracting. And I just wasn't super invested in the plot. Ah well.

Now I am starting:

Erebos by Ursula Poznanski

I also know a lot of people who claimed not to enjoy reading that much who utterly devoured Neal Shusterman's works. I have never met a person who didn't like Unwind.
