Same here, Brigid! I think I just liked that it was so different from anything else in YA right now. A true western!

I thought I was in the minority- it's such a popular book!
But I've heard great things about the movie, so I'm thinking of watching it.

I thought the movie was really good, but I'm not planning to read the book. For some reason, it just doesn't interest me after enjoying the movie so much.

I started The Taming of Annabelle (Six Sisters #2) by Marion Chesney in audio today, and it is WONDERFUL in audio! The narrator is Davina Porter. I don't think she does the whole series, just this one book. But she is FABULOUS! I think this is a series to do in audio if you like audiobooks at all!

I was looking up her credits, and she narrates a lot of historical fiction and classics (YAY!) She narrates Outlander (Outlander, #1) by Diana Gabaldon that might be a perfect way to finally read that monster of a book!

message 15516: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ | 738 comments Finished:

When I Was the Greatest by Jason Reynolds

It was really good! I kind of wish it'd been longer and that more happened in it ... but I loved the characters. :)

And now I have started:

The Mockingbirds (The Mockingbirds, #1) by Daisy Whitney

Same haha. I might sympathize with some of her background, but man, even when she wasn't being all evil dictator-ish, she was awful haha.

Loved the narration too - she is one of my favorites actually but that book should have been edited down by at least 200 pages.

I finished Illuminae (The Illuminae Files, #1) by Amie Kaufman and HOLY CRAP, that was an intense read!! I LOVED it, even more than her Starbound trilogy. The format was very unique and different. This was a cross between EVIL ROBOT and ZOMBIE VIRUS, being in deep space with another ship fast approaching to blow them out of the water. I don't think it could have gotten more dangerous!

David Swager (dwswager) | 6 comments Currently trying to finish Chaos. A little too much teen angst and the romance part getting in the way rather than enhancing the story line.

While I wait for my next David Estes novel, I will likely start either Winter or Red Rising since the 3rd isn't too far off.

In my humble opinion, Neil Gaiman's comic writing is superior to his prose writing by a long shot. And that is saying something. I've read a few of his comic scripts and they're almost as good as the fully illustrated works.

Next is The Kiss of Deception (The Remnant Chronicles, #1) by Mary E. Pearson which is a PIFM book.

Finished Hounded (The Iron Druid Chronicles, #1) by Kevin Hearne in the night, and read Obsidian (Lux, #1) by Jennifer L. Armentrout in one sitting after that(with some sleep in between off course).
Looved both books.
Planning on starting Quintana of Charyn (Lumatere Chronicles, #3) by Melina Marchetta next.

Brigid ✩ | 738 comments Yesterday I finally got from the library:

The Sword of Summer (Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard, #1) by Rick Riordan

I've read like 100 pages and I like it so far! It does kind of follow the typical Rick Riordan formula, but it's fun anyway. :P

I'm also about halfway through:

The Mockingbirds (The Mockingbirds, #1) by Daisy Whitney

Honestly I'm kinda considering DNF-ing it. It's just not really holding my interest and I have so many library books to finish. But I guess I'll give it another day or two and see if it gets better.
