@David - Yes, it was mostly the romance stuff that really bothered me. But also (view spoiler)[I found the frequent rape threats, attempted rape, Elias pretending he was going to rape Laia, etc. etc. pretty upsetting, and that took away from the book for me a lot (hide spoiler)]. So it was mostly those two things that I didn't like. But I also just didn't feel very connected to any of the characters.

Uh oh, sorry to hear it was disappointing! I haven't read it yet, but I guess I made a good call requesting it from the library instead of buying it. I'm a big Rick Riordan fan but I do kind of wish he'd try something new. :P

Finished The Indestructibles last night and it was one of the best books I have read in awhile! Just started Lost in Montreal this morning
