It was okay. I'm not a huge contemporary fan, though, so that probably didn't help! lol But after reading Unravel Me, I needed to read something completely different, so I wouldn't be comparing them, you know?

at the moment, two very different books but Endlessly breaks up the serious tone of Touch the Dark nicely :)

But with the zombie one I was reading
. The first one,
was pretty good and the second, being written by the woman I thought I would like even more but it just didn't keep me. I may go back to it. Or not. Sorry, I can't even really put my finger on what it was that made me abandon ship.

Sounds like a nice Yin and Yang combo!

I can think of another series where the 2nd book was really good..The Hunger Games series! Catching Fire was my favorite book of the three!
But I'm glad to hear that about David's series, you are tempting me to read the rest of his books NOW! lol

I finished

, which is good so far.
Nora wrote: "i finished The Host it was amazing! and now reading Twilight and loving it! i just love Stephenie Meyer's writing."Wow, you might be the first person ever to read The Host first and the Twilight series second. I loved them all and was an obsessed fan a few years ago, reading them over and over and loaning, giving to every one else. Now I am more a fan of Katniss who is more of a protagonist, she is a strong active female. If you haven't read the Hunger Games be sure to do that when you finish Twilight.

But with the indie writers for my Kindle I find it unusual that I my attention is kept throughout several continuations. I have loved all of Hugh Howey's Wool series but the first one was the best. I will still read the new ones for Wool and there is a new one out now. If you haven't read all of David's Dweller series, do it, do it, do it!

I just finished
this morning. Loved it! Really, really great. Although it's still hard for me not to compare it to VA and I really miss Rose and Dimitri :(

Lol yay!! I was scared because the first 20% was sooo slow and I thought I'd disappoint you and Heidi by not liking it, but wow! The last 30% has been AMAZING!! Soooo good! Can't wait to read the rest ;)

Well, if by some crazy chance, you end up disliking the book...I'll tell you now...just lie to me. Because you're my buddy and I don't want to have to end this friendship...
Yay Bethany! You have taken over my Melina book pimping for me. hahaha Love it! David I would offer some advise -- if you plan to read the entire series I would read them back to back because I read them all when they were released (about a year apart) and spent half of books 2 & 3 trying to remember people!
Finished:
(3 stars) It was definitely original, and Cinder was a good protagonist, and I liked how the plot focused more on the political upheaval than romance. Now reading:

Lol to you both, Heidi and and Bethany! I am quite enjoying it now that I'm into the story. Although I would argue that Melina took somewhat too long to get the story going with unnecessary amounts of backstory at the beginning, I must say that now that we are in full swing, I'm absolutely blown away which should make you both happy! I will definitely be reading the sequels so thanks for the advice, I'll do my best to read them soon!!!
Thanks to you both for the recommendation!!

Will you read the sequel or is that the end of the road for you? Just curious ;)

Lol don't get me wrong, I love backstory and I'm really enjoying the backstory in more recent chapters and how it's being presented, I just didn't like how it was done early in the book. But I think I've settled in now and everything's awesome!!
Yeah, Froi is like, an extra 200 pages ;) But the thing that I love so much about Melina Marchetta and her 'back stories' is that she doesn't really do 'filler' writing, ya know. The back stories are all important. She really uses every bit that she writes to weave the story together. And her story telling just blows my mind. She's incredible. Okay...I'll stop gushing now...
Don't ever get Heidi and I in a room together, btw...

I just remember reading Jellicoe Road and having that moment where everything came together - it was kind of euphoric (I know I am silly!)

Katelyn wrote: "Right now I am reading
-Pretty good so far!"I really enjoyed the book. But this for me was a prime example of 'filler' writing. This book was huge and SO MUCH of it was unnecessary and irrelevant. Like, a third of that book could have been taken out. So, that was annoying because it takes from the story. But I liked the concept and I love Link. I hope he is represented well in the movie :)
I did read the second book, but I don't really like the series well enough to finish...
I love all the book discussion going on! Whether you like a book or not it's more fun if you talk about why!
Sounds like I might enjoy the first 20% more after finishing the book. However I'm already seeing things tie together and my jaw has dropped a few time already!!! At 60% now :)

Do I have permission to say I find Dreamland by Sarah Dessen really boring so far? I'm ready to fall asleep. zZzZz...I'm only tolerating it because it's REQUIRED >_<
*goes back to zZzZz-ing away about the book*
I hope it's better later. I have my doubts.
