Kaylani (cityeclectics) | 297 comments I'm reading the knife of never letting go. I'm afraid to finish it before books two and three come. I had to order them online when I got about 1/2 way through the first.

Seriously, Heidi!

I even wrote down the name of The Knife of Never Letting Go for my hair stylist last week when she asked for a book recommendation. ;) And one of my employees is reading my copy right now. That makes me soooo happy!!

I read a lot over the weekend! I finished Nowhere But Here (Thunder Road, #1) by Katie McGarry The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover and How to Be a Woman by Caitlin Moran
It was a good weekend! :D

I'm still reading S. by J.J. Abrams and The Way of Shadows (Night Angel, #1) by Brent Weeks I plan on finishing the latter tomorrow :)

message 13908: by Ashley Marie (new)

Ashley Marie Picked up Ink and Bone (The Great Library, #1) by Rachel Caine last night, 20 pages in and I'm already hooked.

And I started UnDivided (Unwind, #4) by Neal Shusterman the other day, HOLY CRAP. Trying to take my time and savor it since it's the final book (it also helps that I'm waiting until tmrw to pick it back up so I can BR with a friend) but eeeeeeesh.

And I'm supposed to start The Road by Cormac McCarthy for a BR tonight too.

Victoria Zigler (toriz) | 4472 comments I recently read:
Evolution by Kate Wrath
Eden by Kate Wrath
Kristy and the Snobs (The Baby-Sitters Club, #11) by Ann M. Martin
Claudia and the New Girl (The Baby-sitters Club, #12) by Ann M. Martin
The Secret of the Old Clock (Nancy Drew, #1) by Carolyn Keene
The Hidden Staircase (Nancy Drew, #2) by Carolyn Keene

I also listened to the audio versions of two books I've read the eBook versions of before, but got free copies of the audible versions of in exchange for doing reviews. I've done the review for one, and will do the other review in a few minutes. Anyway, those books were:
Catherine de Valois (The Legendary Women of World History, #2) by Laurel A. Rockefeller
The Moon Dwellers (The Dwellers, #1) by David Estes

Now I'm reading...
A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens
...Because it's the group read on another group I'm on, and since it was one I keep meaning to read, I figured I'd actually participate in the group read for a change.

Red Queen (Red Queen, #1) by Victoria Aveyard

Not super into it, honestly. It's kind of addicting but not very original. :-/

message 13930: by Irene (new)

Irene (raenne) @Jenny I'm glad you liked it, so did I :)

@Kaylani Yay for finding your Kindle!

I have odd tastes in books. I really didn't like Jellicoe Road nor The Knife of Never Letting Go. I also disliked Fangirl which most people love, but Eleanor & Park is a personal favorite!

I finally finished The Way of Shadows (Night Angel, #1) by Brent Weeks which was pretty good, but also very confusing at times. Now I'm reading A Thousand Pieces of You (Firebird, #1) by Claudia Gray

I didn't like it very much either! The problem was I had started it after finishing Ruin and Rising and some of the elements in Red Queen were very similar. It was also similar to The Selection and other books. Had I not read all those books before reading it I probably would have liked it. However, the twist at the end might be enough to get me to read the sequel.

That's one of my favourite trilogies of all time! Plus the audio books are fab because they are narrated by Alan Cumming!

The Iron Trial (Magisterium, #1) by Holly Black plus I recently got the second book as well.
The Assassin's Blade (Throne of Glass, #0.1-0.5) by Sarah J. Maas which I should have read awhile ago, but I know there's going to be lots of feelings.

The Witch Hunter (The Witch Hunter, #1) by Virginia Boecker some iffy reviews but sounds good.
An Ember in the Ashes (An Ember in the Ashes, #1) by Sabaa Tahir not sure about this one, so much hype.
Lois Lane Fallout (Lois Lane, #1) by Gwenda Bond and this isn't my normal kind of read but sounds good.

Well I really liked Throne of Glass and recently picked up Crown of Midnight so Assassin's Blade is probably the one I would go with. I've heard An Ember in the Ashes is good too and would be an interesting read to see if it lived up to the hype.

message 13942: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ | 738 comments @David - Hopefully you will like Red Queen more than I do! I know a bunch of people who really loved it, which is why I picked it up in the first place. :D Also AHHH Leviathan is one of my favorite series in the world! I've been meaning to re-read those. They're so much fun, and the illustrations are gorgeous.

@Catherine - omg yes, I totally agree! It reminds me sooo much of Shadow and Bone. Like ... it literally has the same exact plot. o_o And unfortunately both books have a bunch of things that irk me (i.e. a lot of fantasy clichés and lots of girl-on-girl hate *sigh*). I have heard the ending is interesting though, so I'm at least going to finish it.

@Skylee - The only one of those that I've read is The Witch Hunter, and I liked it. It's not super amazing/memorable, but I enjoyed it from what I remember.

@Harlee - YESSS so glad you liked it! :D Amazing amazing series. <3 And you have a lot to look forward to––the second and third books are just as intense as the first one!

Oh, I didn't love the first book, but I thought the second and third books were INSANELY good. A roller coaster of emotions. You're in for a ride.

message 13945: by Harlee (new)

Harlee | 1583 comments I also thought Red Queen was similar to Shadow and Bone! I gave it five stars but the more I think about it, I might lower it to four and a half or four. I really, REALLY liked it. I liked the Silver's powers (and want them for myself XD) and the end is really good. I'm just super picky on which books I say I "loved" lol

Right from the start of the second book there's plot twists EVERYWHERE and no break in the action. The last two books are incredibly enjoyable, so I'm very excited for you!
