Alison Morquecho (thebookishcamper) | 787 comments Well still reading dust and decay, also started the fear trials which I should be done with soon. Been so busy with book club stuff that I've been listening to a lot of audio books. Tried an ember in the ashes and just couldn't get into it, gonna have to get the book. Also tried cruel beauty and couldn't get into that either. But now I'm listening to snow like ashes and I love it!!!

I'll be reading Snow Like Ashes (Snow Like Ashes, #1) by Sara Raasch soon! It's one of my PIFM books which I'm excited about! I loved An Ember in the Ashes! I did NOT love Cruel Beauty either.

I can read multiple books without mixing up story/character. My problem is just I'll usually get more into one and just drop the rest for now and finish that one, then the traction is broken and it feels kind of cold jumping back in mid-story, so I start over. That's why I will read 3 books at most, usually only one(not counting comics).

message 13720: by Caedy (new)

Caedy Eries (karida) | 151 comments @Tommy, I usually tend to focus a lot on the ones that I've been requested to do reviews on if those are in my currently reading list....however, I also have nerve damage and holding physical books for too long tends to hurt thus I have my audio books and my digital books for when I can't actually hold a physical book.

I think you'll really like it, Karen, and they are super-quick reads, a plus for those of us with limited reading time!

And Daniel and Harlee love them, so that's a pretty good endorsement!

I was a wee bit disappointed with this, although I still enjoyed it. I personally thought it was the weakest of the series, but let me know what you think, David.

Rebecca McCray (RebPai) | 195 comments I'm about 70 pages into The Magicians (The Magicians, #1) by Lev Grossman . It does have a very Harry Potter feel to it in that they're in a college that's like a prep school. So far, though, I haven't found a primary conflict outside of competing in classes. Surely there must be more...something sinister.

I'll let you all know! I've enjoyed the series, but it's not one of my favorite series like I know it is for a lot of people. So I don't have massive expectations or anything. I thought it started really slow, but now things are ramping up quite well (page 80). I've got a long way to go still!

Hi Oda - I enjoyed Inheritance (The Inheritance Cycle, #4) by Christopher Paolini , though I think it's a little longer than it needed to be. Still, the author does a nice job of concluding the series. There's one thread that he left hanging from my perspective, though, that still irritates me. Will be curious to hear what you think.
