Tommy Hancock (tommyhancock) | 957 comments I feel so lucky that I've never had that book hangover feeling. It sounds so awful. I've been fortunate enough that, no matter how great a book is, it doesn't transfer over to my next read at all. So if I read something that I'd like to give a sixth star, my next 3-star read will still be quite enjoyable/engaging for me.

Tommy, I'm the same way. Sometimes what I do is after an amazing book, pick up a book that is a completely different genre or has a different feel to it. Like if I've just read an amazing fantasy, I'll pick up a contemporary. That works for me really well!

Sky (mikotea) | 276 comments I just finished up Half a King (Shattered Sea, #1) by Joe Abercrombie and I'm hoping the next book becomes available this week at the library. Not sure I want to pick anything up in between.

I do something similar as well. If I go on a streak of darker books, which I tend to because darker subjects interest me more, I'll break it up with some lighter reads. It's hard to be too let down by one book after another if they're totally different, I suppose.

Caitlin (caitlinsiem) | 409 comments Just finished: Bone Gap by Laura Ruby. Oh my goodness, it was spectacular! I could start it over right now and still want to read it again. I highly recommend.

Now starting: All The Bright Places by Jennifer Niven. I've been prewarned that it's a tear jerker.

@Caitlin--I LOVED Bone Gap by Laura Ruby One of my top 5 books read this year, for sure! I can't seem to get others excited about it, but its FANTASTIC!!

Rose (The_Calm_Reader) (roselittlebookowl75) | 1372 comments I just finished Talon! I'm now starting ACOTAR!

Daniel (pickyreader1) | 1925 comments Finished Paper Towns today and thought it was OK. Watch for a review soon!
Started The Living by Matt de LA Peña today. Meh. OK I guess.
Still hungover from An Ember in the Ashes, I think. (Review for that also coming soon!)

Finished The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry by Gabrielle Zevin 5 star read.

This. Book. Is. Brilliant!

LOVED every word, every sentence, every page. The whole thing was perfect. I laughed (a lot), I cried, and I melted with happiness. It had the same flavor of "I Am The Messenger" by Marcus Zusak.

This is a must read. Seriously. This is a book for Booklovers.

"No man is an island; every book is a world."

I do not want to return this book to the library! I need to buy myself a copy, pronto!

Caedy Eries (karida) | 151 comments So I finished Beautiful Creatures (Caster Chronicles, #1) by Kami Garcia in just under 24 hrs. I'm quite pleased with myself on this. Tomorrow I start The Slow Regard of Silent Things by Patrick Rothfuss when I pick it up from the library. I might start something else on my Kindle tomorrow morning...but for now...I'm in a bit of a book hangover.

Rose (The_Calm_Reader) (roselittlebookowl75) | 1372 comments @jenny thanks for the recommendation! This is why I love GR! I would have never given that book a second look by the cover if not recommended but just read the synopsis and it sounds so good! Added it to my TBR!

Rebecca McCray (RebPai) | 195 comments I'm slowly recovering from a two week writing workshop. I've been reading pieces from the other writers. Interesting material. One was on bloodletting, which is something I never would have read, but the writing was compelling. Anyway, as soon as I return to the land of the living, I'm going to try and finish some of my other TBR books.

Jen (jenwesner) | 1222 comments Picked up A Court of Thorns and Roses (A Court of Thorns and Roses, #1) by Sarah J. Maas sort of for a distraction - it seems like a Beauty & the Beast retelling. I picked it up because I'm listening to The Secret (Irin Chronicles, #3) by Elizabeth Hunter and I want to drag it out because I don't want it to end! LOVE that series!

message 13628: by Heather (new)

I wasn't sure what to make of it at first - what age it was aimed at - but it was a really fun read. I guess any age could read it. :)

Everyone seems to love The Girl Who....., but I didn't. I gave up on it :/ The writing style did nothing for me. I hope you'll end up liking it :)

I don't dislike it, but I can't rave about it like most people have. It's wildly imaginative and well-written from a language perspective, but not very cohesive to me. Reminds me of something between Alice in Wonderland and The Phantom Tollbooth with less engaging characters. I keep losing track of what's happened and then find I don't care very much! :(
