Teresa Heidi (Yup. Still here.) wrote: "Cress was fantastic! So happy when others think so too."

Oh yeah. I loved that whole series. When I first saw Cinder and read the blurb I thought it sounded kind of lame and didn't think I would like it, but then everyone on Goodreads was raving about it so I gave it a try and was instantly hooked. That's what I love about Goodreads, you get so many good ideas about what to read here.

Rose (The_Calm_Reader) (roselittlebookowl75) | 1372 comments @Teresa I thought the same thing when I read the synopsis on Cinder but everyone was raving about it so I read it and loved it!!! Cress is by far my favorite! Can't wait for Winter!!!

message 13381: by Ashley Marie (last edited Jun 10, 2015 08:57AM) (new)

Ashley Marie Ashen Winter (Ashfall, #2) by Mike Mullin is taking longer than I'd expected, although I only read it before I go to bed-- I'm not a fan of Alyssa, she's annoying. Otherwise I'm liking it!

The Secret History A Novel of Empress Theodora by Stephanie Thornton was a fantastic book, I can't wait to read more of Stephanie Thornton's work!

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (Millennium, #1) by Stieg Larsson is interesting so far but mildly so, and very slow. Thank god for Simon Vance's audio <3

Poison Study (Study, #1) by Maria V. Snyder I loved the opening but I feel like this has gone downhill-- the writing style is clunky and full of sentence fragments, and I can't get a good picture of any of the characters except Yelena. I like her very much but the story itself feels predictable and overly drawn-out.

message 13382: by Irene (new)

Irene (raenne) @Ashley - I wasn't too fond of Poison Study either. The writing style was rather clumsy. I ended up giving it 3/5 stars.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (Millennium, #1) by Stieg Larssonseries. All of the books were so good. They can be a bit on the slow side and pretty violent too, but hang in there.

I remember introducing this series to my book club held at a small public library and the resistance I encountered there. The HP world has been with me thru some very trying times. It is like a friend whise world I get to visit.

WHILE watching the movie?!! That's awesome! I've done rereads of each book watching the corresponding movie immediately after. I did a book and a movie each weekend for 7 weeks. That was fabulous!

Harlee | 1583 comments I set Leviathan (Leviathan, #1) by Scott Westerfeld aside. I didn't dislike it, but I wasn't pulled in. Might give it another chance eventually. Now I'm reading The Curse of the Wendigo (The Monstrumologist, #2) by Rick Yancey !

I'm making it a point to finish The Isle of Blood (The Monstrumologist, #3) by Rick Yancey tonight after my NBA finals game ends. I have about 150-160 pages left. It's. So. Good so far.

Loved CotW btw.

Tommy Hancock (tommyhancock) | 957 comments Harlee wrote: "The density and vocabulary is a bit rough on my brain, but I love being back with Will and Dr. Warthrop!"

To me, while it does stay high vocab and density, it seems like Yancey is kind of putting the display of his writing chops on the back burner to really delve into characters more as the series goes on.

I liked Wendigo WAY more than Monstrumologist and so far liking Isle of Blood even more.
